It seems more user error than product error if I'm being honest, but I have tried 3 times now and each time I'm only able to get 2 of the 5 seeds to actually begin to germinate. At this point, I have enough - but it has been a bit longer than I had hoped to get 5+ bonzais going.I will say that the honest that have begun to grow are very healthy and I'm confident they'll make it going forward now - but it's a bit of a hill to get over to get them to sprout in the first place. (they grow in with the sort of fan shape originally, so it's fun to watch them slowly lift up a small chunk of dirt with it as it grows)

I received this as a gift from my husband. Planted these on 08/10/2022 and today as I took this picturereview. (08/21/2022) and posted this reveiw. So this is 11 days after I sowed my seeds. The French tree is doing great. The Colorado Blue Spruce has just pushed out of soil. I'm still waiting and watching the others but so far I'm excited, especially after seeing so many negative reviews.Not sure what worked thus far but here is what I did.1. I did follow the instructions on the guide to the book. So I made sure to soak my seeds for 24 hours, set a timer and on the 24th hour I pulled them out.2. I wet the initial soil pods exactly as instructed to do, and sowed the seeds exactly as the guide mentioned.3. I didn't plant the seeds too deep. Just as shallow as mentioned in the guide.4. I also used a spray bottle to spray my soil just a little at a time every 3 to 4 days. As you can see in the pics my soil is not too wet and not too dry.5. Bow my soil did mold. I used a cinnamon solution to spray as advised and this took care of the mold. It will come back too so just spray in very small portions.6. The only thing I did different from the guide is I placed this set right next to my small hydroponics plant kit (as seen in the back) that grows my spices. It was a new kit too started a week before this one. The lighting on the kit is white light that has an automatic set timer to be on every 15 hours and off for 9 hours. Not sure if my kit benefited from this for I didn't have to take it out in the hot summer heat for I didn't want my seedlings to die. I also didn't want them to lack adequate light or heat.7. Another thing that I did differently that the guide did not mention, was to make use of the small paper shavings that come in the box. I did not trash these. I think they were used for packaging or something once you open the wooden lid you will see small cut paper strips. I placed these at the bottom of the wooden box and this is what each of my plants is sitting on. I figured they could buffer the amount of water the plants eventually get.I will post an updated reveiw if my other 3 sprout. This is just my personal experience. I hope they grow to look similar to what's in the picture. I do hope it works out for all for it is a really beautiful kit. And I'm so in love with those young seedlings.

This is a great set, just started my sow, so far looking good. However, in one of the seed packets, I think the one that was supposed to be jacaranda seeds, was labeled as Fren Tree seeds. I was the most excited for the jacaranda seeds, but when I found out it wasn’t in the set that it was supposed to be in I was a little sad. After later investigation, all of the seeds except the fren package was advertised as in the set. So I looked it up, and fren tree seeds do not exist. I suppose this was just mislabeling, because the seed that I received resembles that of the jacaranda seed. I guess we will see if a fern or a jacaranda pops up in a few weeks.

This set came in a beautiful box with almost everything you need. While beginning to soak the seeds, we learned our packet of blue spruce seeds weren't in the envelope. Hopefully I can reach the seller and get a pack of those. Other than being shorted seeds, it is exactly what we wanted.
