Endgame for Routers (at least for whats available today)
This router is simply amazing...lets see where to begin. First off from pulling it out the box you feel like you have a miniature Lockheed F-117 Nighthawk in your hands. Lets get the annoying part out of the way first...the price and the setup. The setup was quasi user friendly but the whole process was slow and sluggish. There were a couple of times I thought it was broken as it would me to click next and so I would only to be greeted by a "this page cannot be found screen". This happened so many times I almost did not make it through the install phase. Luckily I kept at it because wow...wow wow wow. It was a lot (i mean ALOT) for me to try to justify spending what I did for this router as the old router I had (a Nighthawk model as well) had only been like $100 and served me well for nearly 7 years. I know a lot of the feature inherently built into this XR700 are standard but they were new to me and I was blown away. To be fair I had ordered 3 other routers to benchmark against each other (TP Link Archer C5400x, Asus AX6000, and the Netgear Nighthawk AD7200) to find the best overall one. I compared QoS, ease of setup, user-"friendliness", signal strength, features, down & upload speeds. Setup: Covered above (TP Link Archer C5400x won this hands down) User Friendliness: All roughly about the same QoS/Prioritization: Hands down the XR700. You can set the bandwidth and upload speed prioritization with ease as well as select between an option of having the prioritization set to all the time, when needed, or off. I set the prioritization to my PC (as I stream on Twitch) and turned on 3 T.vs for streaming (1 in 4k), my wife's phone watching a youtube video, my phone watching a youtube video, my kid's PC running a game. My gaming stream resulted in 0 lag as well as 0 lag on any of the devices. While I understand the test is not the norm with all that stuff on simultaneously but I needed to test the prioritization capabilities under load Download Speed (mb/s): Roughly the same Upload Speed (mb/s): I tested all of the routers under the load/stress described above and the XR700 all the way. C5400X ranged between 7-15mb/s up, and the Asus and AD7200 were slightly better between 22-27 mb/s. The XR700 came in at a 37-39 mb/s (mainly due to the Qos/Prioritization) Signal Strength: All pretty much the same and very respectable (cover a home roughly 2500 sq ft across 2 levels) though the Archer C5400X held a very slight lead. If you have a larger home and find an area with space where you don't get adequate signal you can use a range extender with the XR700. For you that would be something to consider as it would be an additional cost but for me the range of the Wifi of the XR700 is perfect me regardless if I was inside or outside. Final Thoughts: This is an expensive router. For me and my needs it is unreal and well worth it...to the point I asked if it wanted to sleep in the bed with my wife and I as a reward and it politely said no as we had just met and it only puts out a signal on the first date...and put out a signal it did. Keep in mind the points I made above as all the routers I tested were inherently good routers it is just this router for my needs was the best. Understand what your needs are before buying something with this eye gouging price tag unless you truly need and will utilize all that it has to offer.

Beast router
A built in firewall would have been nice for the cost but still a great router

XR700 is half baked..
My experience with the Netgear Nighthawk Pro Gaming XR700 was not great. The router is not stable and the current public firmware version still have many issues that I encountered during my setup: • Disconnection with other devices • No support for 940Mbps speed on WAN/SFP+ Port to LAN Port • Random reboots • 4-Cores CPU Usage runs at 100% • Support with different browsers are buggy • User Interface is slow • Setup Wizard skip some options • No Parental Controls I did not expect to see those basic things not running correctly and especially that my Gigabit Internet Service Provider can barely reaches half of its speed. My previous XR500 was able to run my ISP connection at full speed but not on the XR700. I went on the Netgear Community and Netduma forum to get some help but I realized that I was not the only one who have those issues and someone advised me to open a ticket with the Netgear Support. The Netgear Support is not good. To solve my problem, they provide me the same firmware that is problematic without analyzing my case. It’s been weeks and the Technical Support Level 3 did not give me any update since. Judging with the released date of every single firmware, it will take months before they can fixed my problems. At that frequency, Netgear should hire more people to fix these bugs and test them before releasing a new firmware to the public. For now, it deserves one star until they can fix some issues. It’s a shame to pay for an expensive router that can’t work properly out of the box.

Router of the year
Ever since I got this router i've gotten one of the best internet connections in a long time and i've got to say, I'm impressed with the features it also comes with its own custom website where you can adjust your own settings and especially get high speed connection. The router features multiple connections to other devices as well that can result in multiple connections without gaining ping from the amount of connections. The router is easy to set up once you understand what to do, though at the start the website loading will be slow and can glitch out meaning you have to reset it but once you do it, the extra steps will be worth the money. In conclusion I would recommend this router to others and I am willing to buy more product from the brand Nighthawk since they have been doing a good job on making good products to improve the quality of the internet.

The RX700 is AMAZING!!!
So far I LOVE this router. The control via the DumaOS is amazing and I am finally getting the speed I pay for. It does take some time to set up all your devices on the network (if you want to do it "right") but if you just want to "log in and go" it does that too, it's a breeze to setup if that is the route you want to go. I prefered to take my time to add and label each device one at a time as it enables me to control how much bandwidth each device uses and it is then also very easy to use/ see / understand the network monitoring tools. The RX700 via DumaOS Also lets you identify servers close to you for better/best multiplayer etc. Regarding the speed (Amazing) and signal strength (Great). Simply AMAZING!! I had been using the NIght Hawk R7000 since 2013 and it was a good router. That said, The XR700 BLOWS the R7000 away in every category. The 1 hiccup on this was adding NES devices (Switch, DS, 3DS) for whatever reason each time I added a Nintendo device (NES were literally the only devices to cause issues and every single one of the NES devices generated the same issue), After adding it to the network it did something to the DumaOS Device Manager and would freeze up or something. Quick(ish) EASY FIX. add the NES device to your wireless network then reboot the router. (I had 4 NES devices) 1 at a time took about 15 min but by doing it this way I was able to label each device on my Network Device Manager in DumaOS. TAKE THE TIME TO ADD ONE DEVICE AT A TIME. I am so glad I did, I now Know which amazon device is which and which apple device is which, which "unknown" devices is which etc. There is not one visible device on my network now that I dont know. This allows me to monitor my network usage and also network security as I block any device I did not label.
