Amazing product for the price
With all the safety products out there for seniors which charge a monthly rate, this phone is a perfect alternative and the way to go at a great price. It was easy to program and works like a charm. My Mom keeps the watch with her during the day and the necklace near her bed at night. We tested it numerous times and there is no issue whatsoever. This phone has a lot of features we don't use, but for a panic phone for seniors its perfect. Gives me incredible peace of mind since I cannot be at home with her all the time. I think it boosts her confidence too, just coming off a long illness. Because the phone is programmed to call my cell phone first, she can, at night, call me on it (different floor of the house) and I can get to her without disturbing the whole house.

It has it all and more!
AMAZON IS SHOWING THE WRONG PHONE, SO I WILL REVIEW THE PHONE I BOUGHT. The phone I bought was just like the one pictured, except it had TWO emergency remotes. So I am reviewing the Geemarc AMPLI600 Amplified Emergency Response Phone...... I bought this phone for my 86 year old Aunt who lives alone. I have a theory about people in her situation: There are many monitoring services out there that charge you a monthly fee for THEM to call 911. Why would you pay a hefty fee each month for that when you can do it yourself for free? Think about it: You order one of those services, and when the elderly is in trouble, they push a button that they wear and it then connects to a monitoring service. Then you have to explain that "you've fallen and you cant get up".... or worse. You've already lost time, when all you had to do was to buy this phone! When you push the button, it dials 911 RIGHT NOW. (or whatever numbers you've programmed into it) No more middleman, no more monthly fees! This phone has one of the best manuals I've ever read. It's simple and complete. There is little guessing as how to set the phone up once you read the manual. Everything on the phone works exactly as advertised. It has separate volume controls for the handset, the ringer, and the speakerphone. ALL very important! It also has nice large buttons for older eyes, and a large digital readout screen. I love the strobe light that comes on when a call comes in. All of the options on this phone can be turned on or off. It comes with two emergency remotes that you can wear on your wrist or around your neck. Men will probably choose the wrist, while women will probably wear it around the neck, because it would be large on a woman's wrist. I can find only one design fault: They placed the emergency button on the phone right next to the speakerphone button. This will make it far too easy for older people to push emergency instead of speaker . I hope the designers take this into account in the future. The only other issue is that you cannot purchase more remotes. If you damage or lose the two remotes, you'll have to buy a whole new unit just to get the remotes. Other than that, this is a great phone that I highly recommend.

DANGEROUS! Call buttons on wrist and necklace stopped working
BEWARE! Make sure you test the emergency call buttons every day. I've had this unit for 2 years and it worked when I got it but we didn't test the call buttons on a regular basis. My mom fell and hit the button to call me and nothing happened. When I got home we tried both the necklace and wrist buttons and neither worked. This is an unreliable machine and can put a loved one in a DANGEROUS situation. We're going back to Life Alert immediately.

Doesn't play well with other phones!
This phone works great if it is the ONLY phone in your home (or if you plan to have it connected to its own phone #). It is not compatible with other phones (so said the Geemarc customer service rep when we contacted them after we set this phone up, & our other 2 phones completely stopped working).

buyer beware
Bought because the features are impressive and have a great aunt who is was having trouble hearing. However, she is unable to use phone indicating the buttons didn't work.

Outstanding
I bought the Clarity P300 phone for $38.99 and after 11 weeks it broke and I toss it in the trash, I figured you get what you pay for. So I bought this phone and Wow! Loud ring with flashing light, easy programable keys for six family/friends numbers. Three programable keys for emergency numbers (e.g. 911, doctor, hospital/doctor). Now the best a SOS key where you can program up to six numbers to be automatically called in case of an emergency with two small remote activators that you can wear on your wrist like a watch or around your neck. Press the RED SOS button on the phone or the remote device activator and the phone automatically calls the first emergency number and when the person answers it plays your pre-recorded message (e.g. "Bill this is Dad I'm in trouble get over here right away."). Then Bill can press any number key on his phone and that will automatically activate the speaker phone option on this phone so you can talk with Bill if you are close enough to the phone, like in the same room or a close other room. If the first programmed emergency number does not answer the phone will automatically then call the 2, 3, 4, 5,or 6 programmed emergency number until someone answers. This is AC powered and DC with four "AAA" battery back up if power is lost. Adjustable ring volume and adjustable hearing volume for us hard of hearing people. Yep this is a little expensive but well worth it and you get what you pay for......BUY IT, you will not be disapopointed! Thank you geemarc, great product!

Good Emergency Phone for the money
I bought this phone for my mother-in-law who's about 75 and has had a few events in the last few years that have left her at home on the floor looking for help. Aside from these relatively rare events she's as fit and active as someone half her age, but the family has been increasingly worried. We looked at emergency medical alert services but they are relatively expensive for someone on a fixed income. As an alternative this phone fit the bill as it cost what 2 or 3 months of one of these aforementioned services would have cost. It works very well with the remote transmitters that are about the size of a thick silver dollar that can be worn as a pendant or watch. They set off the phone from anywhere in her house and large yard without a hitch. It's relatively easy to program and operate. I just got it set up yesterday and tested it out with the six family members who are on the phone's call list and it worked perfectly. So much so and so easily so that my mother in law called this morning to tell us she moved the phone into her bedroom from the den and was wearing one of the remotes. My only negative that the manufacturer might consider altering is the amount of time it spends on each call before cycling to the next. Currently it's only 30 seconds which is a little on the short side. It'd be nice if that time was programmable or at least set to a longer value. I think 45 seconds would be much better. Other then that I'm pleased with what I received and how it's operating so far.

1 Year and very happy with this unit
We have had this unit for a year and are happy with our purchase. The unit has acceptable range in a residence. It functions well. I am the first person on the call list and if I miss the call, or it goes to voicemail, it continues to the other numbers. If there are no successful contacts, it repeats the process - back to the top of the list - until someone responds to the call and makes the appropriate key stroke entry. At some time in the future, we may need to go to a broader - cellular based - system to get greater coverage out of the home. For our current needs, this provides our family with the peace of mind that there is a fallback mechanism if our monitored person is in need of assistance. There are no expensive fees for this unit as opposed to other solutions. Not the most attractive or modern unit but quite a capable system.
