Deep-frying fanatics will LOVE this stuff!
One of the joys of a low carb/keto lifestyle is that you can deep fry to your heart's content without blowing your carb allowance. Keto batters and coatings are easy to make with pork rinds, almond flour, egg white powder, etc. Recipes are all over the Internet. I enjoy deep-fried shrimp, fish, chicken, you name it, all the while keeping true to my keto way of eating. The only thing that was stopping me was the oil. What to do with all that oil? Now, I have a marvelous Bravetti deep fryer, and it holds a LOT of oil. My fryer will hold an entire gallon before it reaches the max fill line. I use refined avocado oil, due to its very high smoke point and non-inflammatory quality. But avocado oil stays liquid at room temperature, and even refrigerated, it's still quite runny. You can't use it indefinitely - at some point, it needs to be changed out, especially if you're frying proteins. Ta-da! Oil solidifier! I never knew there was such a thing until someone in one of my Facebook keto groups mentioned it. I admit, I was skeptical at first. It seemed like people were just using it to solidify a little grease from frying pans. Heck, a half sheet of paper towel can sop up that little bit of fat. But, I took a leap of faith and ordered the LaSyl powder. I figured there would be enough in the jar to get at least one fryer's worth of spent oil fit for the garbage bag. I poured about half of the oil into an old Dutch oven, which was all it would hold, and just sprinkled the flakes over the top. I didn't even notice the little scoop, and I had no idea how many cups were in the pot. I probably used seven or eight scoops' worth on that first try. I stirred and stirred, but they didn't dissolve, so I heated the oil a bit and that did the trick. The oil was still very runny, but I decided to let it cool and see what happened. I figured I could always reheat the oil and add more flakes. What a surprise! A couple of hours later, I had a Dutch oven full of oil solidified to the texture of firm gelatin. It scooped easily out of the pot and into the garbage. No need for more flakes! I didn't need it to be solid and hard like some of the videos showed. I just needed it firm enough not to leak out of the bag. And I still had an almost full jar of the powder left! I'm beyond pleased with the LaSyl oil solidifier powder. There are lots of other brands and sizes available, and they probably work the same, but this large jar is perfect for a deep-frying fanatic like me. And it's totally safe and biodegradable, too, which is a big issue for me. Now, time to order some more avocado oil. I got me some fryin' to do!

Follow instructions
Makes dealing with used up grease so easy. Follow the steps and poof a solid from a liquid. Does take longer than a poof. But is still pretty magical.

As advertised
This works really well and is quite easy to use. Make sure to read the usage instructions as they might be counter-intuitive. The only thing is that this is no "instant" and will require some time for the oil to solidify, but it shouldn't be too much of an issue.

Cooking oil solidifier
It works great but you have to put it in the oil when it's hot ,otherwise you have heat it up again before you use it.

Can't be without it!
Great stuff! Applying while oil/grease is HOT is key. No more mess or waiting for grease to gel. This stuff is amazing. Worth the price. You'll never be without it!

Works great to solidify used cooking oil if you follow the instructions
Definitely good stuff, works great at solidifying used cooking oil if you can follow the instructions while remembering that 70-80C temperature is hotter than our US conventional 70-80 F. So 80C is near boiling at 176 F. (For those in the know, yeah, I live at high altitude.) But that doesnโt matter for this, just chuck in the required amount (or a bit XS) of solidifier, heat the oil to the first โpopโ sound of any remaining water droplets (or use a thermometer to get 175-180F), give it a stir to fully dissolve the solidifier, and let it cool down to RT. Once itโs fully cool all through (leave it overnight if you like), pop the pan on the stove at high heat for a few moments to quickly (re)melt just the pan-to-oil interface, tilt it into the trash and shake it to slide out the whole paraffin-like solid oil. You can give it a nudge to start it moving by lifting the upper edge of the solid oil too. Youโll likely get a few dribbles of melted oil, otherwise you didnโt heat the bottom of the solidified oil enough to slide it out as one whole piece. Just hit it on the stove at high heat again for a few more seconds, and try again. Practice makes perfect. Or if you donโt wanna fool around with (re)heating the oil, you can easily scrape out the cooled jello-like solid with a wide spatula. I like to drain and collect small volumes of used oil until I get enough for at least 1/4 inch in a pan, then solidify the whole puck. And if youโre a camper or wintertime fireplace user, bits of the solidified oil in an egg carton make an excellent fire starter.

Great oil solidifier
This works incredibly well. Sprinkle the product granules into the oil, heat it up and stir to dissolve in the oil, then turn off the heat. Solid block forms the is easily removed and tossed in the trash. No more just hoping the bag or container you poured your waste oil into doesnโt leak.

Works, but cost too much for what use I got out of it.
It works, but it seemed like I had to use a lot to get the effect desired. Make sure red instructions again and itโs just cost too much to be able to get it like you want it so itโs a great product if you absolutely have no choice and you donโt cook with all that much but I only got two good uses out of it when Iโve cooked up my fryer with you know french fries and chicken and different things so product does work for sure no doubt but for me it was just too much money for what I get out of it but I think itโs great for someone that know has a little pan of all, and you know no other way of getting rid of it.

Works greatโjust follow the 1 scoop per cup rule
The LaSyL natural cooking oil solidifier has made dealing with used frying oil much easier and less messy, and it does exactly what it promises when used as directed. After cooking, once the oil has cooled slightly, one level scoop per cup of oil is all that is needed; within a short time the mixture firms up into a solid mass that can be scooped out and thrown straight into the trash instead of risking clogged pipes. Because it actually solidifies the oil, there is no greasy residue left in the pan, which makes cleanup quicker and helps keep the sink and drain clear. The most important thing to know is that the instructions really matter: if too little product is used or it is added to oil that is still too hot, it will not set properly. Measuring roughly one scoop per cup and giving it time to work has been very reliable, and a single container stretches through multiple batches of frying oil. For anyone who cooks with oil regularly and wants a cleaner, more environmentally friendly way to dispose of it, this is an easy, effective solution that quickly becomes part of the kitchen routine.

This works great
Just a spoonful and it solidyfied the oils in my frypan, which made it easy to throw away when it cooled. So much better for the environment than putting it down the sink.
