My wife tore part of one of her fingernails off. You know how that is. She kept hitting it on everything sending shocks of pain through her injured finger. I saw these and ordered these for her. They were here the next day. You will need some medical tape also. These come in different sizes and she was able to find one that covered her finger perfectly. These are far better than the finger splints they sell at Walgreens. These are shorter and allow for more natural movement. She was able to protect that finger until it healed without any more ouches!

Works as described.

Save your money. This is not a proper splint for mallet finger. There is nothing to hold it to your finger, no Velcro. It’s not pliable at all. There is no support to hold the tip straight, nor a top finger cover. This product should not be allowed to be sold as a mallet finger splint. This would likely lead to further injury! It honestly looks like a cheap 3-D printed copy, not properly made. Be careful!

I pulled a tendon in my pinky finger and was given something similar by an orthopedic doctor which I lost; hence the reason I purchased this item. The one provided by the doctor had a bit of a softer feel, this one took care of my needs but the plastic is a bit hard and uncomfortable. This purchase included several sizes that you could fit over most of your fingers; however, the smallest was almost to big (for my pinky finger), but I used a small piece of tape to secure my finger in place. It is easy to fall off if not careful (which is why I used the tape to secure it). A good thing about this item is you can wash your hands with it on allowing you to wear it a bit longer which I feel will help my finger heal quicker.

I had mallet finger and was struggling to find ways to keep it straight. I was using the crappy splints provided from the hospital, then used popsicle sticks for a while, then finally settled on buying some of these. Didn't take long to find the right size and it did its job very well at keeping my finger straight. It was kind of annoying to fix it in place but that was everyday of my life for those 3-4 months anyways. I was unfortunately between sizes it wasn't hard at all to get it to fit the way it needed. These are extremely durable, and although I gave myself mallet finger from playing volleyball, I used this to continue playing volleyball as if I never did it to myself to begin with. Very worth it for how cheap it is, my only issue is that you can't keep it on at all times of day as you need to wash your finger, but the moisture is impossible to escape on its own, even with the holes in it to allow for the finger to breathe.

They do a good job of immobilizing the DIP joint for mallet finger. You do need to tape it or wrap it though. I prefer to wrap it 2-3 times around with 2" self-adherent bandage wrap. I think it helps recovery from mallet finger quicker if you also immobilize the PIP joint, so when I wrap it, I may or may not wrap all the way up past the PIP joint, depending on whether or not I need a little dexterity in the finger.
