Fantastic Quality
These are a little dated now, and for sure they are expensive, but they are still the best around. They are very well made and work a treat. The portable ringer is really handy as is the light which continues to flash for some seconds after the tone has ended so you can check you did hear correctly, if like me you were making a noise when the bell rang. The ring is clear and loud. It all works as it should. I tried more modern, cheaper units before this, but they turned out to be very unreliable in my house. Sometimes not ringing when the button was pressed and sometimes ringing all by themselves. Better spend more and get something that actually works. Recommended.

High quality - Undocumented secret knock
An excellent doorbell... this is well worth the extra over the Bryson one I had previously, which often interfered with neighbours' bells, much to everyone's annoyance. The range on this Honeywell model is superb ... the battery-powered unit works fine at the end of our back garden, 50 metres from the front door. The battery unit can easily be lifted off its wall-mounted hook for carrying around outdoors. The only thing I would change would be to have the "ding dong" melody loop a couple of times, as it's quite short (there are longer melodies, such as Big Ben, but my wife isn't too keen on them!). After a few months, I became a bit concerned that the bell was malfunctioning because sometimes it would give a different (less audible) ring when the postman called. I eventually realised that there is an undocumented "secret knock" function, which means that a different tune plays when the button is pressed three times in succession (which my postman is presumably impatiently doing!). You can, however, set this tune to be the same as the main ring tune by pressing the button three times, then pressing the tune-select button on the unit to change the secret tune, within 12 seconds.

Excellent Product. Poor Instructions.
It is not quite clear from the picture but this package comes with a two bell units. One plugs in a mains socket and one is battery operated (4 * AA not supplied). They are otherwise the mostly the same. You only get one bell push. I added a Honeywell DCP917S Doorbell Wired to Wireless Converter kit to get both front door and back door bell pushes. The bell units are not that small...about the size of an older iPhone but about 1 3/4 inches deep. The plug-in unit covers the switch on a typical socket but its plug part stands off from the socket about 1/4 so the switch sits behind the unit. Both the provided bell push and the DCP917S wired converter require a battery (C2032 both supplied) to operate. I think the button batteries are supposed to last ~2 years. I was hoping the DCP917S would work without the battery when wired via an 8v bell transformer but that does not seem to be the case. I tested this but removing the battery from the DCP917S. The transformer connection seems only to power the light in an existing wired bell push. The DCP917S splits into two parts, a wall attachment part you wire to the the wired bell push and the wireless adapter unit. The adapter unit is self contained so once you have wired the wall attachment you can still carry the adapter around to pair it with the bell units. There is a button on the back of the adapter unit that acts just like the button on the wireless bell push. It is used for paring and testing the adapter with the bell units. Obviously it only works with the wired bell push when plugged into the wall attachment part. I wired the DCP917S in parallel with the existing elecro-mechanical bell (Friedland Facet D107) so both operate. Just attach the non transformer side to the A1 and the transformer side to AC1 on the wall attachment part if you want to do this. Make sure you bell transformer is low enough voltage before wiring anything and it is always a good idea to disconnect the power at the breaker box before messing about with Mr Electricity. It would be useful if the unit came with a short length of bell wire. It doesn't and I had to improvise. The wall attachment is fastened to the wall with screws (provided) or could be probably be attached with double sided tape (not provided) To pair the bell press units with the bell units, install the batteries in the portable bell unit, the bell push and the wireless unit. Power up the mains bell unit and hold down the cog wheel button until the small amber pairing led flashes. Then press the button on the bell push. Repeat this for the wired bell adapter unit. Repeat this for the portable bell unit. It is possible to set up different sounds and switch the flashing lights on or off for each bell push. I managed to get this to work but I can't quite explain how to do it. It takes some combination of setting the bell unit to the sound and light setting you want and holding the paired bell press pressed for 12 seconds (or so the manual indicates). You have to set up each bell unit separately. The buttons being down the side of the unit are very easy to accidentally press, activating the bell or the light and who knows what, if you are not careful when unplugging the mains unit or moving the portable unit. Playing with the buttons on the bell units can change the sound that gets played somehow so once you have the bell presses set up with there sounds its best to leave well alone unless you need to make adjustments. At least that seemed to be the case for me. The wireless bell press unit has a wall attachment plate that can be screwed or stuck with double sided tape. Both are provided. The double sided tape in my unit was 3M branded and seems of good quality. It worked well for me on a vinyl door frame but such things are only as good as the surface you stick them on. The packaging for the DC314NHGBS combo package is easy to open but a bit excessive and wasteful...lots of extraneous plastic. Parts like the battery, bell push wall attachment battery bell wall attachment and manual are in the back of the packaging and may not be immediately obvious so don't forget to look before you throw out the packaging. The packaging for the DCP917S is more reasonable except that the manual is not the just the folded white paper insert but also the coloured backing card which unfolds revealing the actual instructions. The units have a nice feel to them are well designed physically. The selection of sounds is a bit limited with Westminster Chimes being the most obnoxious, easy to hear and longest running...that's the one I chose for the front door since it was for someone who is hard of hearing. Overall this seems to be an excellent doorbell system and based on very limited experience with it I tentatively recommend it. Will have to wait and see how well it holds up. I knocked it down a star mainly because I feel for the price of the system they really could have done a much better job with their installation and user manual. The instructions are all pictogram which is fine but there is not enough information in them explaining the features and how to set them up. Basically they are not very good pictogram. There are a number of undocumented features that really should be explained...the hidden knock...portable unit can be used as an emergency torch. This could be mitigated with a good online manual to avoid wasting paper but I didn't find one. The other negatives were disappointment that the wired adapter did not work from the transformer only...could be my mis-understanding...and the excessive wasteful packaging...but these are mostly quibbles.

Broke after 7 months of light use
I bought this doorbell about Seven months ago. I spent a little bit more on a Honeywell doorbell expecting it to be of good quality and last me at least a few years. The reason I’ve upgraded my doorbell is because the previous doorbell I had broke. The Honeywell doorbell was easy to install and the quality of the product felt good. Only recently the doorbell has started to use more batteries than normal. The button itself on the outside door goes flat within a week, there has been no increase of deliveries. The door gets used just as much as it did before but now the doorbell goes flat every week. I have spent £8 on batteries for two months now. I contacted Honeywell support twice because there are separate emails. I have not had a single response from them. I tried to contact Amazon and they just directed me directly to Honeywell. I’m extremely disappointed. I spent a lot of money on this doorbell and it does not work. I would not recommend this door doorbell and I’m very surprised at how bad the support is from Honeywell.

A well made product
Bought a much cheaper door bell that I didn't always hear. Bought this one with a lower decibel count and I could hear it easily. Quality build through out made this very easy to install. The Honeywell boor bell is more expensive but made this a winner for me.

At last. A door bell that does what it says.
How many pathetic doorbells have I bought that don't have the expected range and are too quiet to hear unless you're in the same room as the sounder? Not any more. This Honeywell doorbell may be more expensive but is of obvious better quality. The range isn't a problem - it appears to work anywhere in our detached house and the adjustable volume means we can hear it anywhere in the house.
