After three years of heavy use, this is the best flashlight I have owned.
I just want to gush over this head lamp. It is reliable, bright, versatile, and has a long battery life, charged with USB-C. The auto dimmer doesn't do much for me, as I usually use the lamp on "low" any way. I've used it camping, both light weight and full on glamping. It replaced the head lamps I used when I had my boat. It was instrumental when I took down and set up my big canvas tent by myself at night in pouring rain. It often lives in my cargo pocket or the corner of my cot when I'm camping. When I'm not camping, it lives in my car, ready to be adjusted and attached to my riding helmet so I can turn out the horse I ride in my evening lessons. The head band expands to fit securely on the helmet and the head adjusts to provide light where I need it. I used to swear by my mini mag lights. Then I loved my Energizer head lamps when I had my boat. This one is now my go to favorite to date. I can't imagine very much that I'd want a flashlight to do that this one doesn't. Maybe blue light in stead of red? I don't know. This one is pretty awesome. I've had this now for almost exactly three years. I'm writing this review now because I'm finally looking at replaing the head band and head band bracket. They are both still usable, but definitely show signs of three years of frequent, heavy use. It should also say something that I'm repairing this light, not replacing it. HIGHLY recommended.

This is my new favorite headlamp
This is my new favorite headlamp. I almost want to buy a second just in case they discontinue this one. It's 3 standard brightness levels for the white light are each very bright and the battery light is very good. The standard "low" brightness level is is probably brighter than the "high" brightness level of a headlamp you might buy at REI and the "high" brightness level is much brighter than any REI headlamp I've seen. It also offers a "turbo" brightness level which is only intended to be used for short durations (because it uses up a lot of power). This is perfect from my perspective. At night on a trail you occasionally run into a situation where the trail appears to end and you need to search around to see where it picks up again. In this scenario, it pays to be able to temporarily kick the headlamp into "turbo" mode by double clicking the brightness button and looking around. The brightness more than doubles in turbo mode and is very bright, comfortably allowing. you to see 30+ feet away and making finding the trail easier. Double clicking the brightness button again reverts back to whatever brightness level was previously active. My common usage pattern for a night hike is: charge the headlamp in advance, go on the hike and use the "low" brightness settings as my default (which is roughly equivalent to the "high" brightness level of an REI headlamp). If I lose the trail for some reason, double click the brightness button to activate Turbo mode which jumps the brightness from ~300-400 to 1400 lumens (which is a LOT brighter). Find the trail then double click the brightness button again to switch back to the low brightness setting and continue on my hike. Going on a long day hike recently I left around midnight and got back to my car around 3pm. Hiking through the night following this pattern (i.e. using it continuously for about 7 hours) used up about half of the lamp's power. This headlamp also offers a red light which does what you'd expect. There is also an ultra low white light option. The ultra low white light option basically offers an alternative to the red light for scenarios where you don't want to ruin your night vision. In practice I just prefer using the red light, though the ultra low white light uses much less power than all the other lighting options. The one thing I was worried about when getting this headlamp was the so-called "proximity sensor" it advertises that supposedly will automatically dim the light. To put simply, I don't want a feature light that. I don't want my headlamp to randomly dim if it "thinks" something is in front of it. Before I bought this device, I was imagining waving my hand in front of my face might cause the light to flicker or rain to mess with it or a hat I'm wearing to mess with it or any number of other things. Maybe I'm climbing up a rock at night and suddenly the light goes out. Anyway, I'm happy to report that this "feature" has never gotten in my way (I've had this headlamp for more than a year now). I'm actually not aware of it ever triggering so far as I'm aware. So if you're like me: don't worry, you can ignore this "feature". When I was looking for a headlamp I had some criteria: I wanted it to be rechargeable. I wanted it to be super bright while also not using so much power that it needed a separate battery pack on the "back" of the headstrap (like some have). I didn't want it to be so heavy that it needed a 3rd strap over the top of the head like some headlamps have. I didn't want it to have useless additional "features" that I'd just need to click through when using the headlamp. For example I wanted it to have a red light but I DON'T want it to have blue or green lights, since they're useless and are just annoying to click through. Having used many headlamps, I've come to the conclusion that I don't want a "wide" style light beam option, since that option inevitably is less bright (for the same power draw) and a standard focused beam light option and I find I never actually use the "wide" angle options offered by some headlamps (so offering that option just means there are more annoying light options that I need to click through). Etc. This headlamp ticks all the boxes. It only has the features I want, and doesn't have the features I don't want. It has great battery light. It's as bright as I could have hoped for. It's got a solid, premium feeling metal build quality to it. It's not too heavy on the head. Etc. I'm not aware of a better headlamp at any price point.

Great light!
I’ve used this working on a car that broke down in the middle of the night, I’ve used it skateboarding at night, I’ve used it snowboarding, and about a hundred other projects and it’s performed above my expectations. I like the small amount of rubber it has on the front so it will stay on my helmet or my hat (when worn). The battery life is amazing, especially when I use it on medium and high output settings. When snowboarding, it illuminated the runs well enough that I felt much safer night boarding than I ever have in the past. It could be seen for quite a ways by others in my party as well. It’s also very rugged, standing up to a LOT more punishment than the plastic body that my other headlamps have. The cold didn’t seem to affect the battery life nearly as much as I thought it would. The adjustability of the angle is also incredibly useful. If you’re going to buy a headlamp, I definitely recommend getting this one over any of the others I’ve purchased

Got this for backpacking and backpack hunting. Battery lasts a long time and the light is very bright. Note that the battery is not removable. It's internal and is recharged with a USB-C cable. I just make sure to bring along a portable charger, which does double duty for charging my phone. Highly Recommended.

Best headlamp we ever had. Very bright and battery lasts for ages + usb c. Way better than the blackdiamond we had before.
