Merriway® BH00787 Round Antique Door Knob Latch Set, 60 mm (2.3/8 inch) - Black

The first two sets of handles I ordered had to be returned. There were bits of paint missing off two of the four handles and only one pack of screws between the two pairs.The second two pairs had all paint intact and two packs of screws. All return springs were correctly sided.The size quoted in this listing ( 60mm ) applies to the bit that screws to the door, and is closer to 62mm diameter on the ones I received. The actual handle diameter is just a little over 45mm diameter on each one.Quite strong return springs in these. They do demand a firm grip when using to get a door opened or closed. For young children or less able adults, these might be awkward to turn.The black screws supplied are the usual ones made of toffee.I used a 3mm bit for pilot holes and a 5.5mm flat blade screwdriver to fit without chewing the heads up. If in doubt, test for pilot hole size in a piece of scrap wood first to see what suits best.To get the screw heads near flush, the pilot holes would need to be sloping inwards towards the centre of the handle, roughly as close as you can get to 90 degrees angle to the face of the base. This will allow a max of 16mm of the screw into the door, with the supplied 25mm screws.I fitted mine to two outside shed doors. If they do get rusty over time, easily sanded and repainted.Update 24th April 2017.I am pleased to say the handles have not deteriorated since fitting. The paint is still intact with only tiny areas of rust where the screws were fitted, presumably from the friction of the screws against the base plates when fitting. Return springs feel just as strong as the day they were fitted. I have a feeling these will outlast the shed.

They look quite good at first glance but there is a question mark over quality control.These are heavy with an forged painted finish and look good. The return spring is strong and the handle requires a firm grip to turn, generally a solid piece of door furniture.The first set provided had a large chunk a coating broken off on one of the knobs exposing base metal and the internal casting broken on the other. Return was straight forward and the replacement set was good.

Great product and really good value. A little disappointed with the screws that accompany these. On one handle I managed to lose the tops of two of the screws whilst manually screwing them in. A little annoying.

I have brought 4 of these and 2 are good, 2 are very stiff which I was used to stiff handles. One knob came without the square bar and the one that came with the square bar, we put on our living room door. We shut this door as we normally do but we are currently now stuck inside the room! The handle would not turn the catch and was just bouncing back and because the screws are so awful, the door knob has just come completely off the door. Currently waiting for someone to let themselves into the house to get the door knob off the door on the other side.

I bought a pair to start of with as I wanted to see if they'd fit and how the quality was. Perfect fit and solid build. Only negative I would say is that I had to change the spring on one of them as they were working in opposite directions but after that I have now ordered 11 more to fit all my doors.

They look great and an incredible weight to them but I find them very stiff and it takes a very string grip to open them. I also found like many other people that 1 set of knobs I received both turned the same way so they'll need to be returned for a replacement.

Superb item. Arrived quickly, I found it easy to install.I give it 5 stars.My young son and a couple of female guests however have found that the spring is too strong for them and they have been unable to open the door.However I imagine this will ease up with use.I still give it 5 stars though because for me, the primary user, thats what it deserves.

Beautiful handles, little touch to open but we took the spring out of one side and no probs after that.
