RingSolar Charger (2nd Gen) for Battery Doorbells, Video Doorbell (2nd Gen)

Does what I expect it to do. Didn't charge so well in the winter months as we had limited sunshine. But as the days have got longer and sunnier, it's worked perfectly, maintaining a level in the 70% range, with no need to manually charge for at least 3 months now.

As per usual, speedy next day delivery on Amazon Prime.I fitted it today and was easy. Instalation made much easier, as the holes in wall from the doorbell were reused for the solar part. Looks great and doesn't stand out unnecessarily.Price of £40 is a little steep I think.I've given 4 stars for my experience so far, due to the price and not knowing how effective it is. Time will tell.Update: Nearly 2 weeks have passed since installation. This is positioned on my front door, with sun on one side/ on top panel for about 8 hours a day (sunrise to early afternoon). Obviously this is at a bright and sunny good time of year here in England.This works well, fluctuating but in all maintaining the charge.The daily percentage has been:61,57,57,55,54,54,49,53,55,56,58 (on its way back up 👏).I initially said I thought the price of £40 is a little steep. However, given what I know now, the electricity savings and less effort makes it well worth it.All with the help of the sun! 🌞Upped to 5 stars 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟Recommended.

This solar panel is mounted behind the door bell, which sits atop the device. The solar panel is actually three thin strips along the top and sides of the bell. This design choice severely limits the amount of light that can be gathered.My Ring doorbell sits atop an angled bracket next to our front door. It's in a slight indent of the wall but south facing, so is in full daylight for the most hours per day.Installation was easy. Mounting the panel on the angle bracket and then remounting the Ring doorbell's bracket on top of that and threading the cable through the hole and into the power port on the bell, before fixing it with the security screws.The ring app detected the solar charging device was attached.Never-the-less, the bell lost 2% power that day and continued to lose power consistantly each day as it did prior to the solar panel installation.At the usual two week period (for our bell), I received the warning that it needed charging. It seems to have made no difference.I will update the review if any of this changes but I cannot recommend this attachment.

Installed with doorbell at 30% Battery. After 2 sunny days it’s up to 50% so it certainly works.Expensive though so lost a star.

We put this up easily. Although there were cheaper solar chargers for the ring doorbell, we went for this one because we didn’t want to have to drill new holes. It fit the original holes we’d had to make for our doorbell. We were a little disappointed initially with how slow it charges as it appears to drip charge, but actually the doorbell has gone from 18% up to 75% in just 3 weeks of the solar charger being up so it definitely does work

My doorbell battery needs charging once a month. Since this leaves me without a doorbell, I decided to try out this. Our front has the sun on it all day.It charged my battery up from 18% and has kept it charged and topped up fine so far. It's a nice sturdy quality and fits the ring doorbell perfectly. It looks sleek around the doorbell.It's very easy to install if you already have your ring doorbell up. Just need to swap the plates over and it's done.Defo worth it and wish I'd bought this sooner.

I have other ring solar panels for my spotlight cameras and the are perfect , batteries are always at 100% , but this doorbell solar panel look like it only trickle charges it as every time I check on charge it only goes up about 1% or 2% , I use to have to charge it every 3-4 months in mains power and now it’s pretty much the same give or take a few extra days with this solar panel so for me it’s been a waste of time , my doorbell is south facing also
