To be honest. Haven’t had the time to configure raspberry Pi. Pi’s are definitely not plug and play. Pi’s are definitely about the journey. Not the destination.

The documentation is 10 years old. The software to be downloaded does not install...so basic this product sucks.

I recently purchased the Raspberry Pi Camera OV9281 and I am extremely impressed with its performance. The camera is capable of up to 453fps and the external trigger stream mode is a great feature that allows for precise timing and control of image capture. The monochrome global shutter sensor is also a huge plus, providing crisp, clear images without any distortion. The camera was very easy to set up and integrate with my Raspberry Pi. The support for Bullseye is also a nice touch, making it a great option for anyone looking to use the latest version of Raspbian. Overall, I am very happy with my purchase of the Raspberry Pi Camera OV9281. It's a high-quality camera that delivers solid performance and image quality albeit the tradeoff in pixels to get the global shutter. I'm using mine for a robotics/AI project and so far it works well for my needs.

This is a nice camera if you want to do some kind of machine vision experiments with the Raspberry PI. It goes up to 158 frames per second and can be triggered externally so you can sync it up to something happening in the real world. It's also global shutter which means it captures the whole image at once, not line by line, this means you will not get the "jello" or tearing effect in your images if the camera or your subject is moving quickly. Overall a nice little device, 640x480 is not exactly high resolution, but if you want something to take close up photos of something like a machine that is spitting out parts you want to take inspection photos of, this will work fine. This connects to the PI's camera connector with a short cable. If you have not messed with the PI's connectors before, suggest you find a youtube video to show you how they work. They have a way of locking and unlocking that is not obvious but easy to do once you see how it's done. It does take a bit of work on the PI to get the software installed and running, but once you do it should be fine.
