better than expected
I have really thin and soft hair with oily roots and drier ends. It's frustrating to find the right shampoo because my hair is trouble. Can you imagine having oily roots/hair on top but then fuzzy and dry hair on the bottom? I was a bit skeptical when my friend recommended the shampoo because I thought the coconut oil was going to make my roots oilier than it already is. After the first few washes, I didn't really like the texture of it. My hands were greasy after applying the shampoo to my hair and it took a few washes to get rid of the residues just on my hands. It takes much longer to rinse my hair after each application. I also noticed that I tend to loose more hair during wash for the first 2 weeks. I decided to stick with it for at least a month because I noticed some surprising results. My roots are a lot drier. My hair is a lot puffier. I love the dryness and volume that it added to my hair. I usually wash my hair once every 2 days and it's usually oily and flat by the middle of day 2, but this shampoo can last me 3 days. My roots do feel oily by touch on day 3, but my hair still looks dry and puffy. By week 3, I started loosing less hair during wash (like A LOT LESS). The shampoo + condition combo also kicked in, my hair is a lot less fuzzy towards the ends. By the end of week 3 and the beginning of week 4, I also noticed a lot of new growth along my hairline. I have really thin hair so I was able to easily spot the new/shorter hair sticking out. I don't know if the shampoo was supposed to aid in hair growth, but that's what's happening with mine now (I can't speak for anyone else obviously). The only thing that I didn't like about the shampoo is probably how "greasy" it feels like. Sometimes I am just not sure if I completely rinse off everything. It does feel like I didn't wash it well enough at times when I touch my hair while it's still dam, but it feels perfectly fine after my hair dries. I gave it 4/5 because of this. In general, the shampoo works great for me. My hair is less oily, less fuzzy, and more puffier. I also like the subtle coconut scent. I recommended it to my family as well and so far, they seem to like it as well.

Okay...
This shampoo does not leave my hair smelling or feeling clean. The conditioner is ok, but not amazing. My hair is damaged from bleach and heat, so it is very dry. Even my (normally) dry hair was greasy and flat after using these products. I also tried it on my kids' hair and got the same results.

the combo is the best!
The twosome is a really great value. It lasts a long time. I originally bought the 32 oz size which lasted me an entire year. You only need to use about a quarter size of the shampoo and the conditioner. Was never big on conditioners. They felt like I just put dirt on my hair. Always used only shampoos. Amway sold a really great shampoo & conditioner and then stopped selling it. So on to search for something similar and a good conditioner that I liked. I'm very picky about shampoos and conditioners.I have thick shoulder length hair. Live in Arizona so summers are hot, winters so so. Need shampoos that work well in hot and colder weather. Luv the SheaMoisture.Leaves the hair very manageable, even the conditioner takes majority of tangles out of the wet hair when running a comb thru it first or blow drying then putting comb thru it.Learned long time ago from a few beautitioners that the shampoo doesn't need to be sudsy to make it clean. That's a gimmick sales people use to sell their shampoos. Only need a small amount of shampoo in the palm of the hand to wash the hair with. Don't use hot water, use warm water. Hot water will dry the hair out. Conditioner, don't use a ton of conditioner. Only use a small amount in palm of hand and gently rub into the hair. Leave on for few minutes before rinsing. Same with water temperature. Use Warm not hot so as not to dry hair out.Do not use high temp on hair dryer when drying hair either. It will dry the hair out. Doesn't matter if short, medium length, or long hair, all the same. Shorter hair use even less shampoo and Conditioner. Was reading some of the reviews from people who called this product worse ever. They apparently don't know anything about how to wash ones hair or they are a competitors brand. I have oily hair so I buy the one that suits all types of hair.Shea Moisture does make different shampoos/conditions for different types of hair - oily, dry, hard to manage, straight, curly, etc. Make sure to buy one that suits your hair type and don't worry if you're not seeing a lot of lather like you think you should. Lots of lather means absolutely nothing. Just means takes longer to rinse out.I do recommend this shampoo and is a good deal for the money. I pd high prices for expensive shampoos/conditioners that were horrible even from beauty salons. They're just wanting to sell their product(s). Some have good products. just don't get hung up on name brands and pricing.
