For my child they ran small. I ordered up a size originally and it was too small. I had to order a toddler 13 when he normally wears a toddler 10. He's 4. The 13 are slightly big but he can run and play in them just fine.

Q: Are these boots heavy like some other rain boots?

They are made with a synthetic phthalate-free PVC rubber therefore much lighter than natural rubber and are also 100% recyclable :)

Q: Are these slick or do they have a good grip? Also, does the inside dry out nicely or hold water? We currently use Crocs rainboots.

We LOVE these boots, more than our Crocs. They are taller on the calf than most and have great grip on the bottoms. My 3yo walks our low muddy pond without slipping. The inside dries out quick as long as you take out the sole insert. We are looking to buy again in larger size as she grows.

Q: What size should I buy for my child who is 16 months old and wears a size 5 shoe

In my opinion, the shoe size is accurate however you may want to go one size larger to a 6. The problem we had is the ankle is very narrow and our 3 yr old could not get his foot in the boot
