A useful engineering tool and also a bit of fun for car enthusiasts. Worth spending that little bit more to get a quality item.
Unlike the many many obd2 devices available on amazon, the obdlink LX oozes quality. The packaging is good, the instructions easy to follow and the device itself is well built and looks the part. Setup is a doddle, install the app, plug in the obd2 dongle into the obd port of you car (usually under the steering wheel column behind a little cover). Turn the key 2 steps in the ignition without turning over the engine. Then you simply pair the device by opening your bluetooth settings and scanning for the dongle, then pressing the little button on the front of the dongle itself. Pairing should take no time at all. Once paired, the only thing left to do is open the obdlink app from the app store you previously installed and then select the newly paired device in settings and hey presto! You are done. Being my first and only odb dongle I wanted to test how responsive/laggy this device was between my phone and the actual car dashboard display. Having seen many of the cheaper dongles in use on youtube and the lag between reality and the readout on the phone I was very surprised to see that there was hardly any lag at all. Yes, there is lag but it is so small that it is barely there at all. I also installed torque pro and tried this next, again, setup was a doddle, just opened settings in the app, selected my previously paired device and within 10 or 20 seconds it was actively connected. The other important feature of this particular dongle is that it powers down when not in use and wakes up when the key is in the ignition. I tested this, I didn't want to leave it draining my battery so I left the car for 30 minutes and came back and I was not able to connect to the dongle. How useful is this device? Well, its a bit early to tell, but I can really see that it will be a useful thing to have around. Already I am seeing 2 error entries in my car and the app allows me to go directly to a website with a single click. It is also easy to clear errors with a single press.

Works great with 2017 Golf. Doesn't work with Smart ED3
Works great with my VW golf (2017 alltrack 2.0 TDI, much faster reading speeds and works well with the car scanner Android App. It does not work with my Smart ForTwo 451 ED3 (Electric Drive) This was expected. None of the OBD11 scanner seem to work with the ED3 and the ODBlink website does state that it won't work with Electric vehicles. Just thought I'd mention it here so other people looking for a reader for the ED3 don't lose out.

Works perfect on a BMW F850 GS Adventure 2020
I seen a video on YouTube about this and thought yes I’ll buy it has my warranty is up on my bike in August this year so I’ll be doing my own service from now on this OBD works perfect also you have to download the moto scan app on a android or Windows I’ve downloaded it onto my android phone you have to pay £21.87 here in the Uk 🇬🇧 to get the full use of it I downloaded and paid for the professional one you purchase in via app. Also you need to download the OBD APP TO Register it. All straight forward connect via Bluetooth, OBD and phone and you’re away. Plug it into your bike ignition on and it all comes up on your phone screen you pick what model you have scroll through to which part of the bike you need to change I used dash to try it and it worked perfectly hope this helps you make your mind up in buying I highly recommend it DEREK from the UK 🇬🇧
