These work great and the inclusion of a built-in PM2.5 air quality sensor makes it a more complete solution compared to other brands, allowing it to run in auto mode and only ramp up the fan if conditions require it! Also, I was easily able to integrate them with Home Assistant, allowing me to further automate them alongside my occupancy sensors and culminate their built-in PM2.5 sensors for other home automations. All around a great product!

I wanted the Xiaomi Air Purifier for the small bedroom in my apartment which is used for the cat litter box, cat food bowels, and an exercise bike--it's not used as a bedroom. I use a HEPA Air Purifier in that room to eliminate litterbox odor and also because pet dander that irritates two friends who have cat allergies can drift into the hallway. I have used HEPA Air Purifiers from four different brands in that room so I have realistic expectations of what this unit should be able to do.The Xiaomi Air Purifier is extremely compact--less than two feet tall and nine inches wide. I wouldn't consider this a good option for monitoring and cleaning the air in a large room unless it is running in one of the manual speed modes. The form factor is small and unobtrusive if that's an important consideration.A sensor monitors the air quality in the room and the display on the top of the unit shows the quality. This is the most compact and lowest-priced Air Purifier Unit that I have used in that room but the monitoring sensitivity is also easily the least powerful.I have the Xiaomi Air Purifier sitting less than four feet away from the cat litter box. The Grovee Air Purifier I was using would immediately detect a change in air quality as soon as I began cleaning the litter box and the motor would turn on to clean the air. This air purifier can take as long as a minute to detect a change even though it's sitting quite close to the litter box.With any HEPA Air Purifier that's not a full-sized unit, this should be placed as near to the center of the room as possible to be effective and also to provide an accurate air quality measurement. A high-quality full-sized unit allows for a lot more freedom in terms of room placement but will also cost a lot more. The other advantage of a full-sized unit is the noise level--a compact unit has a much smaller motor that needs to work harder so it is inevitably louder.The noise level on this Xiaomi Air Purifier is good for its size but probably too loud to use in a bedroom at night without switching to Sleep Mode which lowers noise as well as the ability of the unit to clean the air in the room.In terms of using the Xiaomi Air Purifier as a smart unit, this offers some solid features. The MI Home Smart App is available in the Google Play Store or Apple Store and installs easily--especially if you use the bar code printed in the user manual. Ironically, I was unable to connect the Xiaomi Air Purifier to my WiFi Network using my Xiaomi MI 11 but when I switched to my Motorola Razr I was able to connect it to my network in seconds--it really couldn't have been any easier.The MI Home app displays the air quality reading from the unit and gives the user the ability to turn the air purifier on and off, buttons to switch between Auto, Sleep, and Manual Modes, a reading indicating how close the filter is to needing replacement, the ability to schedule on and off (but not to schedule sleep mode which could come in a future software update), settings for adjusting the brightness of the purifier display, a child lock and a Smart Scenes option that I couldn't find any obvious use for--probably because I don't own any other Xiaomi Smart Home Products.Clicking on the three dots in the upper right corner of the app (sometimes called the hamburger menu for some reason) gives you the ability to change the device name, update the unit firmware, change the location that you selected during initial setup when moving the purifier to a different room, and the option to create a password which didn't prevent me from downloading the MI Home app to a tablet and controlling the purifier from there.All compact air purifiers come with compromises when compared to their full-sized counterparts. The Xiaomi Air Purifier gives you a lot of functionality in a small package, and it does a solid job of removing odors and pet dander in the room where I'm using it. The air quality sensor is not great but based on its certification from TUV Rheinland (a well-regarded certification company that is commonly used in Europe and Asia but not as well known in North America) this should do a very good job of cleaning allergens and air pollutants when as long as you're running the air purifier manually instead of using auto mode.This Xiaomi Air Purifier has been selling for nearly two weeks for $67.99 even though that was supposed to be a flash sale price. That represents a savings of 43% off the list price of $119.99. If you can get this for under $100.00 it's definitely a good deal but at list, you're at the price point where spending $40 more can get you a much better air purifier which is something to consider.

My concern is always how to maintain this kind of product. Xiaomi app has all setting for it. So far its sensor works great. Good design for bedroom and small living room too.

Id recommend the app as well. It really is helpful in tracking and identifying air quality, even when you dont expect its low.

Purchased five of these air purifiers only because they were on sale for $50. If these smart air purifiers were not on sale I probably would have passed on them to something more advanced. Overall this smart air purifier does what it's intended to do. I personally find the app a little janky as it sucks that I can't have variable speed control unless I use the app as you can't control the fan speed variable on the unit itself. I do like you can set it on auto and it will adjust the fan speed according to air quality. My main concern is the longevity of support from the manufacturer and the replacement filter excessive price as it's the same price I paid for the whole air purifier itself(if you can actually find a prioritary replacement filter).
