This Is The Book We've All Been Waiting For!!!

But I was not getting the results I had hoped for or read about online. Well THIS BOOK EXPLAINS IT ALL! I finally have the "golden ticket" to my weight loss goals and how to manage my hormones(feelings). I stayed up all night reading it to the end and loved it! I feel heard, seen and as though I've had an insight into what's been going wrong with my attempts to lose weight and feel normal again. And best of all the path to fix it! Mixed Feelings
I was excited to find this book and to read this book. Things make sense when you read but then they don’t. I am very familiar with Keto lifestyle and was excited to tweak it towards my hormones. However, this is rather frustrating to finish the book and not to have a plan. I am apple, so.. what do i eat today? The cover states 4 week plan. There is no plan. Just very vague suggestions. Recipies are also confusing and not easy. I am not regretting reading the book but never felt more confused about what I should actually eat today.

Great Hormone Reset and Habit Changer!
I love this book and the information in it is very helpful. I have done Keto before and was very loose with it but the Gottfried protocol pinpoints specifics for women and it is just a 4 week minimum reset, not keto forever which I like a lot. Dr. Gottfried guides step by step on how to teach/train your body to have metabolic flexibility which I think is key for everyone, especially people over 40 (ability for your body to use both carbs and fat as energy). I’m in week three and feel awesome, thinking clearer and have a lot of energy, oh and I’ve lost 6 lbs in fat only. I’ve been strict with it, following all the tips and tricks to a T because I was ready to do it and do it right! Thank you Dr. Gottfried!!

Book needs work - Haven't tried the diet yet
I am 47, about 25 pounds overweight, and I am gearing up to begin my 4+ weeks of this protocol so I do not yet know if it will be effective. However, I have to say that the book itself is somewhat frustrating. The first half of the book reads a lot like an advertisement for the book. Lots of anecdotes of success stories. Lots of comparisons to other diet ideologies. There is a strong sense of leading up to a big reveal of the protocol itself. Then when she finally does, it really should have been organized into a few pages of charts instead of spread out and sprinkled with anecdotes. The whole time I was suspecting that the disorganization of the book was perhaps to obfuscate the simplicity of the concept or the fact that her protocol is not that original. I started to take notes along the way so that I could bring together the essential information in a more organized way. When you get to recipes, there are no macronutrients listed. Upon finishing this book, I really needed another week to research nutrition facts on a list of foods and try to make a meal plan that would somehow add up to the ketogenic ratio, maximums and minimums of fats, proteins and net carbs, and a target calorie count. This is decreasing my confidence in proceeding with the diet but I think I will still give it a try. I will amend this review once I have gone through the protocol itself.

A must-read for feeling better and making diets work for YOU
I've been eagerly awaiting the arrival of Dr. Gottfried's newest book, and it has not disappointed! I love how she utilizes her medical background to formulate meal plans and weight loss strategies, ensuring that your plan is sustainable and works for YOUR body. I've definitely fallen victim to the 'keto craze' and Dr. Gottfried explains perfectly why the male-centric diet hasn't worked for me (and many other women!), and then outlines a revised program specifically designed for women's hormonal and metabolic needs. I truly think this book will revolutionize the way we approach weight loss and diet culture. The recipes look delicious, and I love Dr. Gottfried's witty, nonjudgemental writing style. It truly feels like a conversation, and it's clear that she's passionate about helping women lead healthier, happier lives.

Not helpful at all, do not recommend, would give zero stars if I could :(
The title gives the most hope. After that...yeah, no. The *advice* is riddled w stories of patients,integrated with text boxes that talk about what was being said prior. Then in the middle of it all are the *helpful parts.* The layout is too busy, way too much to muddle through, inside on book written for women who are *already known* to be in a stage of their life (peri to full-blown menopause) where concentration and memory rival that of a flea. My feedback is indemic to the industry of others who write on the same topic! I was extra disappointed by this book, particularly since it's written by a medical practitioner who should know better. The struggles of perimenopause are underdiscussed and underexplored! Please put together a practical help book that appeals across all economic circumstances and maybe follow format like a children's picture book. And, no, I'm not kidding. And, yes, I have an education and have walked the earth for a very long time. Our collective patience at this stage is very thin and slippery. If you know this, why do you write a book on this topic as if we still have the brain plasticity of an 18-year old.

Brilliant Book!
Dr. Sara Gottfried is a brilliant doctor and author. I trust her 100% to deliver accurate, science-based information. Her newest book, "Women, Food and Hormones" is a must-read for anyone who wants to successfully lose weight and keep it off. She explains the important roles detoxification, blood sugar balance, and hormones (like those that control hunger and cravings) play when it comes to weight loss (and why some diets work and others don't). If you want to lose weight, but you're struggling, this book is for you. If you're in perimenopause or menopause (or any stage of life) and you want to feel like your old self, this book is for you. If you're looking for a specific meal-plan with delicious recipes, this book is for you. I highly recommend it!
