Will this help keep my puppy still enough to trim his nails?

Don't know. Is you puppy a Yorkie or a Great Dane? Just kidding. It does have the straps that go under the tummy. The neck strap & tummy strap would keep him from falling off the table but he could still squirm around. I leave the nail business to the groomer. I use it to blow my cock-a-poo dry when I bathe him between groomings & it is great for that. Good luck. Judy S

Can the clamp fit on a table that has a lip on the underside?

Yes it can. My table does. There is no instructions on how to hook up your dog to it so I have a problem with it but the clamp is good LOL

Will it work for 35 lb Brittany Spaniel?

I had trouble with a 6 lb. Yorkiepoo. The arm kept falling. Maybe I had a defective one but was never able to use it.
