It was a beautiful blood red when I opened it and the fragrance was amazing! Don't let the cheap price fool you, this is the real deal. I also did some research on where it comes from. It comes directly from Guatamala farmed by people that live in the community. This is how their entire small farm village survives is from the sale of this saffron as well as cardamom seeds. This is why the price is very fair because there is no middle man. It is 200 grade, which is premium stuff for you that don't know how this system works, basically its the best of the best!

This didn't smell or taste like anything, and the texture was awful - akin to pubic hair.I'm only not giving it 1 star because we had it a few months before using it, so it's possible that it should have been used fresh. We won't be ordering again to find out.

While I can't say anything Bout the quality (gave it as a gift); it did have a strong saffron smell. However the display pic is in an attractive package while I got the product in a tiny plastic bag!!! I had to remove the saffron into a bottle to make it a presentable gift. For the price mentioned I would rate it more than 3 stars

The real deal, tubular cone shaped stigma, lemony yellow tint after soaking for 10 minutes and they don't dissolve when rubbed between your fingers. Smell is woodsey with a bitter background note, similar to spanish paprika and not perfumy like the fake stuff. The packaging seems to vary and mine came in a round plastic case with a screw on lid which unfortunately opened itself in the bubble mailer. Luckily I only lost some dust and a few threads, but I took a star off for not securing the lid better. A small piece of shrink wrap would of done wonders.

If you were like me going threw all the saffron on line because the stores were way to high in price stop here. I used mine tonight and the product is as good if not better then anything on the market. It gave my risotto a beutiful color and was the perfect addition to the dish. Give this a vendor a try and save yourself some money.

Deceptive advertisement. Product qty is very much smaller than expected. Just buy from the supermarket.

Smells and tastes great. Fast shipping. Very reasonable price. Bought another after the first one came. Made a shrimp dish with it!
