Deflecto Semi Rigid Aluminum Duct, Non-Crimped, Silver, 6” x 8’ (A068/4-A)

Update couple years later: The first one of these that I bought arrived fully intact and is still doing fine. I dont use it often and take care of it when Im done. I just ordered a second one to use in fabricating another exhaust venting system for the generator on my RV. The second one arrived partially crushed in three places. This despite absolutely no sign of damage on the shipping box so the ducting had to have been placed into the shipping box with the crushed portions already crushed. I dont need "perfectly shaped" ducting for my purposes. I just need one good end to fit snugly over a 4 inch duct venting fan and the other end to basically drape over the exhaust pipe of the generator. I was able to straighten the crushed parts enough to make the ducting that I received presentable but even partially crushed, this duct tubing serves my purpose. My complaint is that someone would knowingly ship off triple crushed ducting to a customer. Using this to vent exhaust from the tailpipe of a vehicle safely outside of an enclosed area. Of course this hose is too large to fit tightly around a tailpipe but I also purchased a 4 inch exhaust fan($15) to fit onto the opposite end of this hose. The exhaust fan actively pulls the exhaust fumes from the tailpipe and pushes them outside. The set up works incredibly well for the measly $20 I've got invested in it. An "official" exhaust hose costs over $100 and doesnt come with a fan(its a passive system). I went with this hose instead of a regular aluminum foil style dryer vent hose because this hose is rated for temps OVER 400 degrees Fahrenheit(I think its 460 F to be exact but check to be sure). A regular foil type hose is rated for only about 250 degrees. If you run a garage as your primary business then you should probably invest in the "real deal" type if vent hose. My type of set up wouldnt last long in a "real" garage. This aluminum hose is simply much too flimsy. You'd trip over it once, or a customer would and it would get crushed. But for those of us who just do mostly our own stuff and watch where we step, my set up is pretty great for the money.

Pretty .uch as expected. Having plenty of experience with semi rigid ducting, This is about as good as it gets for non insulated ducting.

You certainly won't get the full length extension from this rigid duct, but unlike other complaints I wouldn't worry about damage to the tube if you're careful. I suspect most people that are ripping or crushing this haven't worked w/ rigid duct before. Be careful, don't pinch loads at any single point, and you'll be fine.

I used this for a short run from a bathroom vent fan to exhaust out an attic vent. Yes its cheap, in fact they staple a tag to one end of it. Its no different than working with cheap flexible dryer vents. You have to stretch it out slowly and evenly. I pulled one way, then the other over my knee to avoid putting too much stress in one place. I have some doubts you would make a full 8 foot with this but I only needed 6 and didn't push it. It fit fairly easily over the 6" outlet on my fan and stayed there about as securely as i could hope for considering there was no clamps involved. Summary: It's cheap, and that's what i wanted. I was careful and had zero issues. Good buy.

Just gotta state that this is by far the best semi-rigid aluminum duct pipe i had ever purchased. Needed a sturdy, but flexible piping that can go right through my 6" concrete wall after drilling for a day or so and to my surprise, it was almost a perfect fit!. Will be doing another project and will surely purchase another one if needed. In my opinion, completely satisfied with the price and delivery was fast & item came undamaged, a huge plus. Overall, i would recommend it, it is so versatile.

The durability is horrible. It WILL tear up on you. Mine is already in pieces so I'm not gonna return it. Not recommended.

Had a to be a bit more careful with the 8" as opposed to 4"..can tear more easily.. Can always use some alloy duct tape in any case... Hardly noticeable then.

Ignore the lower ratings, it's sturdy and exactly as expected. I would assume it will only get flimsy at full extension, has every duct will. Works fine for my wood stove to forced air conversion.
