Can you use this on a hitch receiver that doesn't have the ridge around the edge? My receiver is straight out without a ridge.

This tightener is used at the junction of the 2-inch receiver and the trailer hitch extender. If your receiver does not have an additional extender installed, you do not need this tightener to weaken the rattle.
