Buy What's Chemistry All About?: 1 (What and Why) New edition by Alex Frith, Usborne Publishing Ltd (ISBN: 9781409547075) from desertcart's Book Store. Everyday low prices and free delivery on eligible orders. Review: I USED TO TEACH THE SUBJECT! - An interesting wee book that both entertains whilst also educates the reader! I used to teach Chemistry and I enjoyed it! From ages 5 to 95! Review: Perfect for the late primary school age group - Perfect for the late primary school age group. Nice bite sized chunks of information arranged logically. It didn't succeed in making either of my sample size of two interested in chemistry but at least it prepared them for high school.

Cant rate this highly enough - packed with useful information for my child.
A thorough well illustrated and easy to read introduction to Chemistry. I have the Physics one too, but learnt more from this book, which I found more comprehensive. Both dad and able year 7 child got a lot out of this book.

Good book for 8 years and up
Very nice book. I’m a biochemist and my kids are interested in chemistry. Easy for my 8 year old to follow (not so much for my 6 year old yet).

Not read it yet
Looks like a great introduction to Chemistry for KS2 and above. My son prefers Horrible Science at the moment. I am hoping when he gets to Year 5, he will want to pick this book up, but so far it has not gripped his attention.

Very nice book for curious kids. My 12 year old loved it. Concepts of chemistry explained very well More importantly application of chemistry is explained. This convinces the child why he / she has to learn.

This book gives easy-to-understand but reasonably accurate/precise explanations of all sorts of topics in chemistry. Works as a decent chemistry "spine" for homeschoolers. Like other books in this "What's X all about?" series, there are copious illustrations among the rather small and dense, but again fairly simple, text. The text is not just a series of boxes, but generally does follow and elaborate some line of thought. Generally what you'd expect from an Usborne general intro.
