Works better than expected for the price
Small but powerful and works better than expected. Many options in programming as it can be used as an access point or an wireless router.

Understand that this is an outdoor AP. you are looking at "range" rather than throughput/speed.
Pros:Range. This is the strength for these types of devices.Cons:Firmware/Software is a bit flaky.Throughput is just not that good compared to other/more advanced APs.Do not use as a normal Wireless AP.Other thoughts:I think many people confuse this with a normal AP. First, it is a 2.4 Ghz where Range is emphasized. I set this up to cover the large back area on our property. I am not looking for super-fast connection, all I want is for devices that are far away from the house can connect to the wireless. There is no 5Ghz. That is a shame, but then again, a 5 Ghz signal would end up with less range. So, if you intend to use this as a normal AP, don't bother. If you intend to use this as an outdoor AP where range is a need, this is good.Embedded software/firmware could be better, as I have seen sometimes where it just stops responding. However a nightly restart keeps it fresh.

Just as advertised
I don't understand the reviews that say this is trash. I think some of the reviews are by people that expect for this to be plug and play and think that it is a wifi extender, which it is not. This is a standalone unit that can be used in multiple ways. You can't beat the cost. Anyway, this is one of the simplest Access points that I have ever installed and it has a simple user interface. You need to know a little about networking and it is easy. If you know nothing, you will have a problem and the instructions won't make sense. However, this is the simplest AP I have ever set up and I will use this brand when setting up simple systems for my clients. You cant beat the easy set up and versatility if you are using it for 2.4Ghz wifi. A+ unit.

Worst setup directions in history
Let me just start with my background, 30 years in IT, network engineer, systems engineer, system admin, trainer, etc. you get the picture. It only took me 3 hours, following the directions to finally get one of my computers to connect to the AP, and this was only by using an Ethernet cable and directly connecting it to ONE of my routers, which honestly defeats the purpose of what i needed it for. We live on 10 acres, and i currently have three routers, two wired and one wireless as an extender and want to add this one outdoors near a pond. Now to the App or website, there are absolutely no tooltips or help menu to explain what some of the options are, for instance there is an option to enable MMU, but nothing informing you of its definition or why you would. Is it the same as MU-MIMO? don't know.It also states it can run off PoE but connecting it directly to my PoE switch did not power the AP. It wasn't until i used the included power adapter that it powered on, so not sure on that one since my PoE camera works just fine. I will keep working on this and update review as needed, maybe even upload some better directions. Now if you simply have one router and need wireless then this will work perfectly.

Does the job!!
My main focus of purchasing this device is so my standby generator could have Wi-Fi connection so I can monitor it to device overall is excellent. It does this job, but the first time configuration of the device is quite difficult. It was fighting me the whole entire way. I almost returned the item, but I was able to set it up. Once you can get past configuration it’s a solid device but it’s definitely not a plug and play.

Does not connect to IP adress 198.168.1.100 as it is described in instructions
According to manual found SSID FAP_7530. Entered password 88888888. Obtaining IP address but never got one. Reset device. Repeat again, no luck. Also opened Chrome and entered IP 192.168.1.100, again no luck.

Simple 2.4 GHz only AP/Router with an easy interface.. does what it claims.
This is a fairly simple device to set up in AP mode. You basically plug it in to your network using it's LAN port, connect to the default SSID, and you are up and running. From there you could access the web interface and add additional SSIDs as needed (up to 6; starts freezing if you add more than 6).Being marketed as an outdoor AP, you do need to make sure that you are able to get power to the device where you plan to install it. This can either be with a 12 volt DC adapter if you have one on hand, or it does come with a POE injector in the box. You can also power this device with a POE switch, as long as your switch supports passive POE. Using either POE method requires that you have an existing, or run a new Ethernet cable to your installation location. The device can also be set up as a router. This can be handy if you want to use it to route traffic between two LAN network segments, or it can be used with your WAN connection as the primary gateway for your LAN. It has quite a bit of functionality built into the firmware.. comparable to most standard home routers available. As others have mentioned, it does only support 2.4 GHz wireless speeds.. so you probably wouldn't want to use this as your primary router or AP. But it could be a very useful supplementary device to use for extending your wireless network into areas with little or no wireless coverage. And with built-in mesh support, you could theoretically chain a few of these together to cover quite a large open area.. for large gatherings such as festivals.

Keine Antwort vom Support. Definitv keine Kaufempfehlung!

Mesh instructions
These things are decent for the money, but kind of a pain to setup. Just got this working, so still testing, but I wanted to share some information. Here is the procedure to get these APs to mesh. The instructions included are not clear, and it took me 2 hours to figure this out, so I'm leaving it here for others:(note: you need multiple devices to setup a mesh. Will not connect to other APs)1) Setup first AP on your network. Setup WIFI network to your requirements.2) Unpack and power on second AP, but do not connect it to any network. Wait for WLAN indicator to come on.3) Start mesh search on first AP.4) Plug network cable into LAN port on second AP. This should trigger the mesh join. If done correctly the WLAN signal strength LEDs on the new device will light up, and it should show as "joined" on the main AP.5) Wait a few minutes, and the new device will pull an IP from your main DHCP server, and anything connected on the LAN port of the new device will be visible on the network.Hope this helps.

Used
Came with a SSID presetup! How nice. Reset doesn’t bring wifi up, just resets the existing SSID the previous owner used. I suppose I have to bring this home and plug it into my desktop NIC to connect and configure it. Too bad I purchased this for my cottage and now I’m going to have to wait another week to set this thing up. This is the 2nd product from Amazon I’ve purchased recently that’s arrived dented or used in the box.
