Q: Has anyone used this as checked luggage on a long haul flight, if so what was the condition at the other end? Is it durable enough for transit?

We just used them to come back with stuff from the USA to the UK- Filled them both to the brim with our clothes and they weighed 23kg each- No damage what so ever! Absolutely handy dandy and we plan on using them going to Europe in a couple of weeks too and using them.

Q: I'm travelling to Borneo on a volunteer trip. Is it durable enough to last the 14+ hour flight and is it waterproof?

We used ours on a 3 hour flight and it was wet on the outside but none of the contents were wet, so yes it is waterproof and seems pretty strong too.

Q: Is the medium one big enough, not sure if I would need large, just for a week away in u.k.

Depends how much you pack! The medium looks large and holds a lot, but I suggest you check the measurements carefully against what you usually pack. If it helps, it holds twice as much as my airline-approved cabin (carry on) suitcase.

Q: Is the medium size suitable for hand luggage ?

I think it's slightly too big for cabin luggage although in my experience airlines don't actually measure them so, as long as it 'looks' about right compared to your fellow travellers bags, I doubt it would be an issue. We played it safe and bought 'Cabin Max' backpacks - which are the perfect size for most airlines & very sturdy - and packed a large Bago Duffle Bag inside for the return flight (therefore only paying for hold luggage one way). FYI; we were really pleased with the Bago - surprisingly strong for such a lightweight bag and packs away to virtually nothing.
