Perfect Quick Meal Addition
Iโm not vegan or vegetarian, but I do enjoy adding in extra protein and fiber to my meals where I can, and this is an excellent tool in my arsenal. It is pleasantly meaty in texture and takes on the flavor of whatever I put it in. My favorite thing to add it to is instant miso soup packets that I take to work for my lunches. I love miso, but I needed something a bit more with it to make it last through my work day. This was perfect. Shelf stable, didnโt have to store it in the disgusting communal fridge, and all I need is hot water and letting it sit for about 3 minutes. Perfect for my needs and I highly recommend it.

I'm floored.
Wow! I am a life long carnivore, save for about 6 months when I was a vegetarian in the late 80's. I spend my weekends smoking various meats and vegetables on my pellet grill, just to give an idea about who is writing this review. I finally got around to using this TVP for the first time tonight after ordering quite some time ago. I am absolutely stunned at how amazing my homemade tomato sauce (for eggplant parmesan that I'll be cooking for my son and his girlfriend tomorrow) turned out with this product being used instead of beef. The texture is absolutely perfect for this application and I didn't even bother with hydrating it. As far as flavor goes, it absorbs whatever you're immersing it in so it tastes amazing incorporated into my homemade sauce. I simply added about 1/3 cup of the dry product into the sauce and simmered for about 30 minutes and I am not exaggerating one bit when I say it's PERFECT. I can't wait to try this in other recipes like baked ziti, tacos, chili, and all manner of recipes I use that call for ground meat. At $15 for the bag, it definitely comes out a lot more economical than the offerings at the grocery store too, I'll definitely be getting more of this!

The BEST Meatless Alternative
Hands down, the Anthony's TVP is the Best meatless alternative you can buy. I've tried them all, from frozen to dry packaged and this is the very Best. It's All about texture and this is the closest to a meaty texture ever. YOU add the seasoning you want. Spaghetti sauce grounds? Taco grounds? Asian Fusion? It's quick and Gluten Free, Low Calorie and Low Carb and filled with Protein. Anthony's makes MONDO products and I'll be trying more. AND I looked at the bottom of the bag.....IYKYK

Good, but expensive
Good product, but expensive. It's nice that it's basically shelf stable and you just add fat and water to rehydrate it. I've used it blended with a bunch of spices to create something approximating taco meat. I like the convenience, but it's comparable in price to beef which, for me, is hard to justify.

Fantastic(and vegan!)
Delicious, super versatile, a great way to get protein in with rising food costs. It's definitely pretty small crumbles but for most things I use it for that's not a big deal.
