Volume 1 of a two volume MRCP text, this book includes cases which mimic the style and approach of the MRCP PACES exam. This isn’t as concise as the pocket book, but I found it explained so many things well and helped me understand, which I preferred.

I would recommend getting this book if you're just starting revision for PACES ie a few months away from the exam. It contains all the information you need and is written and presented in a easy to read format and it's all you need. I have used other books which may be colourful and present the information in all sorts of pictures and graphs but I find this book better in terms of information delivery. Would recommend! It has help me pass PACES.

Great, focused and helpful
Best book ever. Help with both clinical judgement and presentation skills. So many PACES books out there but this book cuts it especially when you need to be focused. Only downside is that the cases in each system are arranged randomly. So instead of following it systematically, I would recommend you look at the arrangement in Ryder and Mir, because there the cases are arranged in the order of the frequency in which they occur in the exams.

Helpful medical manual.
I recently moved to the UK to work as a doctor. I bought this book to help me adjust to the way medicine is practised in the UK and also refresh my knowledge. I think this a very helpful manual.

Nice format, does have errors though
This book has a nice format teaching you about presentation for each case and picking up on some of the common questions that might be asked at the end of each station - although arguably some of the questions go in to too much depth.However it's main problem is it is only written by 2 registrars in cardio/gastro and there are a number of mistakes that I and colleagues using this book have found without too much looking. Really a good paces book needs to be authored by a member of each speciality for each section who has a realistic idea of how much a candidate ought to know for PACES.I would however on the whole still recommend this book.
