Takes 3-4 Charges to Clean a 495 SQFT Pool | Can't Suck FIne Dirt of Pool Floor | Stopped Charging
PROS:- Climbs walls- Fast charging time- Large bag for leaves and debrisCONS:- Battery does not last long enough to clean my 495 sq ft pool. It requires 3-4 charges/runs per day to clean bottom of pool adequately.- Vac is not strong enough to brush and/or suck dirt (such as desert sand) from the bottom and sides of pool- Battery stopped taking a full charge after 3 weeks of use and device no longer operates.I purchased this item about 3 weeks ago with high hopes but unfortunately, I just packed it up and returned itPREFACE: First, I live in the Las Vegas area. Although I have all desert landscaping with no trees on my property, my neighbors have 40 ft tall hedges that shed a lot of leaves into my pool when the wind blows. In the desert, it is very common to have 20-60mph winds several days in a row and on a weekly basis. Thus, my pool can often get a lot of small leaves on the bottom. In addition, the wind blows endless amount of sand/dirt into the pool. Much of it is filtered out but a lot still falls to the floor of the pool. For the last 16 years I have been using a skimmer connected pool vac. With that vac the leaves would always clog the vac and it would get stuck. This would cause the gearing inside to breakdown and it had to be replaced once or twice a year. Not to mention daily cleaning of the clogged leaves from the vac.WHY I PURCHASED THIS ITEM: It was time to upgrade to a battery powered vac. The prices have come down now and this unit was on sale with an additional 5% discount. My pool has a total square footage of 495 sq ft which well within the 1300 sq ft indicated in the device specs. I read through many reviews on Amazon, and also watched at least 10 reviews on YouTube. Unfortunately, all of the reviews on YouTube were either sponsored or the reviewer received the vac for free to review the product. Be that as it may, I purchased it to see if it would work well for my situation.FIRST EXPERIENCE: I was surprised that the vac was so tiny when I received it. I immediately thought that there would not be enough space to hold enough leaves inside of the bag that my pool collects on a daily basis. However, the bag inside the vac is large. The opening where the leaves enter on the bottom of the vac is wide. In the 3 weeks I used the vac, there were only 2 times out of approx. 45 cleaning runs that the bag entrance got clogged and had to be manually cleaned. I did empty the bag every few days though and rinsed it out with a hose (the bag gets dirty with dirt it sucks up). So, I was immediately impressed that the my biggest issue with my old skimmer vac was resolved with the Aiper robo vac.ISSUES: Although I was off to a good start, soon problems quickly mounted up. The first problem was that this vac absolutely will not clean my whole pol on a single charge. It takes 3 or 4 charges/cleaning runs on the same day to collect even a small amount of leaves and to sweep the entire pool. It is easy to tell this because the vac leaves track marks in the dirt that accumulates on the bottom of the pool. You can clearly see that it does not adequately sweep the entire surface. The second problem is that the vac is not powerful enough to suck dirt off the bottom of the pool and sides. It does have brushes on the back of the device but it does very little. So for the last 3 weeks I've had to brush the bottom of the pool and sides at least twice a week so that the dirt will go through the filter and be removed. This was something I rarely had to do with the skimmer vac. (Note: I clean the pool filter out every 2 months so there is no excess dirt in the filter and dirt is not flowing back through the pool returns). It was not these two issues that caused me to return it though. After the second week I started noticing that the vac would charge more quickly and run for less time. This caused me to have to charge and run it 4 times just to clean the pool in one day. Then last week it stopped taking a charge. As soon as it is plugged in it shows a green light indicating its fully charged, yet when you put in the pool it runs for a few minutes and then floats to the surface. On a couple of tries it did take charge for about an hour but only ran in the pool for about 25 mins. Maybe it's the battery, or the charge sensor, or charger. It should be noted that the charger is a cheap box which does not appear to be water proof. Thus, this unit should be brought indoors to charge. Bringing the device inside to charge 3 or 4 times a day is a pain in the neck. It will leak dirty water in your house and floor and is another charging device eyesore. Ideally, you want a device that can be plugged in outside to charge near the pool.UPDATE: I returned the Aiper and purchased a much cheaper robo vac, Ofuzzi Cyber 1200 Pro. I will post a full review in that products review area but so far it is able to clean my entire pool with one charge, even with a weeks worth of leaves built up. It does not clog . It does have enough suction to remove the layer of dirt that builds up on the bottom of the pool from the wind. The only draw back is that it absolutely, will not, climb the walls of the pool. So I'm back to brushing the walls once a week which is not to bad so far.

Does a great job, but the charging connection is a challenge
I really like this cleaner. So much better than the one I have sitting unusable because I need to spend more than the cost of this one to replace the power supply for it.It does a great job, being cordless is very convenient, except that I wish it charged faster. I get a lot of sand in my pool from the sandy soil and wind where I live, and this does a great job of actually collecting it, not just picking it up and exhausting it out like other units I've had. I love the little retriever hook, what a brilliantly elegant solution. My only real knock is the way the charger connects. The fit is so tight and precise that it is a real challenge to get the plug into the unit and to do so, you end up having to press on and crimp over the wire where it goes into the male end of the plug, there is no other way to get the leverage and angle to connect them. I can see this as a point of failure and would not be surprised if it fails pretty soon.

An Absolute Beast…When it Works
I love this little robot…when it works. At its best, it’s a 5-star device, but it’s buggy, and sadly, for the price, not quite ready for prime time. This thing picked up stuff I didn’t even realize was in my pool, tiny bits of sand and debris, with no issues. It does not travel in intelligent patterns, but it does cover a good amount of the pool. It’s amazing to watch it climb walls, inexplicably (at times) struggles to climb a 30-degree incline. The run-time is excellent and the charge-time is reasonable. My challenges have been this unit will at times just shut down (2-3 times). I was ready to send it back when I tried it after a day or two, and it fires right up. Ok, that stopped. Now, it when I charge it, it powers up, and the wheels start turning and wont turn-off via the power button. This thing literally helped rescue my pool this year and now I need it for routine cleaning, and can’t count on it. Too bad. Even with my love-hate relationship, I’d give it 5-stars for potential, My experiences and the myriad reviews I’ve read lead me to conclude it needs just a little more work. Wish me luck with my return.

So far so good - outperforms my Polaris units
We've had a comedy of errors since opening our pool earlier this month, including the booster pump for our pressure Polaris going belly up and then a wheel on my back up robotic Polaris breaking. I purchased this as a temp fix until my pool company can get someone out to fix the booster pump (I'm not holding my breath). It's only been a week but I have been pleasantly surprised - gets through my entire pool in one charge (we have a 48ft long, freeform kidney-ish shaped pool), climbs the walls and no issues with the slope. The unit is much easier to maneuver than the Polaris robotic (and has a smaller storage footprint) and the debris bag is large given the size of the unit. I was also pleasantly surprised at how much dirt the machine picked up. My two cons are it doesn't not stop near a wall when done (not the biggest issue but can be a bit tricky to hook it in 9 ft of water) and the debris bag is kind of a pain to empty and clean (counterpoint - that's also because it's picked up so much dirt and I have to hose it down). Hope this performance continues but I'm pleased enough where I abandoned just repairing the Polaris robotic wheel because this machine does a better job and I just bought Aiper's handheld vac for my attached spa and "spot cleans".
