This is a large bag (24 lbs.) of bone meal from a trusted manufacture I frequently purchase from
This is a very large bag (24 lbs.) of bone meal. I didn't pay close attention to just how much the bag weighed. I chose it for the trusted brand and the unit price (I'm a frugal shopper). I use it when I'm transplanting my seedlings into the garden or when I see some of my leaves yellowing. Recently, we have been going through our 17-year wave of cicadas, and they are damaging my fruit trees and fruit bushes. They lay their eggs in the soft woody parts and kill entire branches. I've made a first application of this and will follow with a liquid fertilizer to help support my young fruit trees in their recovery. I will update after the trees get some time to absorb the nutrients. This is a picture of my peach tree after I had already pruned off many damaged branches. I hope this product will help it recover and survive.

Say goodbye to blossom end rot and prepare yourself for a bumper crop of flowers, tomatoes, etc.!
Obviously, you should test your soil first (if itโs alkaline, your plants wonโt be able to use the phosphorus and if your soil is already high in phosphorus, adding more could result in higher phosphorus in runoff that contributes to algae bloom), but this is a great all-around amendment. Low Nitrogen means it is less likely to burn roots, Phosphorus boosts blooms and fruiting, and bone meal is excellent as a source of calcium, which can help you avoid blossom end-rot.

Sounds like they have a good product that needs to be better described and packaged.
Their bag broke in shipment and caused a big mess in the box. Was not too pleased with that. But I did also wonder if this product is truly all bone meal without fillers or other additions. Almost all the bonemeal that I have purchased in the past has been a fine white powder. This produce is a very tan with some very dark small brown chuncks and white flakes. And it is not a very fine powder. So I checked AI and this is the encouraging result: Espoma Organic Bone Meal is indeed 100% pure bone meal with no added fillers or synthetic chemicals. It is a registered Organic Input Material (OIM), meaning its purity is strictly verified for organic agricultural use.The visual differences you are noticingโthe tan color, dark chunks, and coarse textureโare actually indicators of a high-quality, minimally processed organic product rather than signs of adulteration. Why Your Bone Meal Looks and Feels DifferentCoarser Grind (Granular Powder): Many mass-produced bone meals are ground down into a super-fine, uniform white dust. While this looks neat, fine powder is easily blown away by the wind during application and washes out of the soil quickly. Espoma purposely processes their product into a slightly coarser, granular powder texture. This design prevents wind-drift and serves as a better slow-release mechanism, allowing soil microbes to break it down over an extended period. The Tan Color and Dark Chunks: Fine, bright white bone meal is usually the result of intense chemical bleaching, high-pressure steam-boiling, or heavy processing that strips away all marrow, soft tissue, and trace elements. Espoma utilizes domestic animal bones that are sterilized and crushed without harsh chemical stripping. The tan color and dark brown chunks are remnants of residual marrow and mineral-rich tissues. These variations are highly beneficial, as they provide the natural trace amount of nitrogen (reflected in Espoma's 4-12-0 NPK ratio) that completely bleached bone meal lacks.White Flakes: These are simply larger, flat fragments of the dense cortical bone that did not pulverize into dust during the milling process.
