Review: Excellent - does what it says on the cover. - This is a review for the paperback version. The arrangements for the songs in this book are simple The songs are easy to play Each song has the chords used in it displayed beneath the title in standard chord grids The words and music are presented in TAB format with the chord notations above the finger positions There is a comprehensive explanation of all the terms used at the back of the book The Hal Leonard Corp. create the best guitar books - probably In short it has everything a beginner guitarist could need to learn the simple arrangements. It is cheap for the price The question is, just how much effort is one prepared to put in to learn their chosen instrument. If one is picking up this book as a means to learning the guitar, then the absolute key to success is to give oneself plenty of time to learn a song. If this book is the sole route taken, why, then it could take up to a year just to learn one song. It could be wise to combine a songbook like this with some lessons.... Review: Numbingly Simple - Right!! Now that you have got over your sore fingers, and have studiously learned all the open chords, and some barred ones, get ready to put your new found knowledge to use with proper songs. I edited this and took out the snarky comments and increased the stars to four. The reason is 'I should have read the introduction more carefully', Oh, thats right, there isn't one, so hence the missing star. My difficulty was I didn't know many of the songs so tried to start with the ones I did know. Big mistake. It is a book of progression, you have to start at the beginning. The early songs get you going with power chords, which are simply the two lowest notes of barre chords, leading you into being able to slide up and down the neck. Then a progression of different strumming speeds and alternate strums. It's not trying to show you how to impress your neighbours, but learn the guitar better. My take on this is to play each song on youtube or something until the flow is in my head, then practise the sequence in the book, moving on once I feel happy. It's so simple I completely missed it.

Don't buy the Kindle version
The Book is Very good, There is a description of all the notation used at the back of the book, I purchased the kindle edition to read on my Mac, Its so small it cant be read, on my Ipad it's much better and i can zoom in but still can't be put on a table and read whilst playing the Guitar because you cant see all the Page, I would advise purchasing the Book, in my opinion the kindle version is a complete waste of money.

Not so easy!
Lots of new songs for me. There are some I know, and some with chords I know. I have not picked up my Guitar for a few years and have found this book a challenge, probably very good for my ageing brain so will persist. My arthritic finger joints might benefit too! I am glad I bought it really.

Good song choice varieties for the price!
This song book has a little bit of all the flavors you need to play some really excellent stuff! My favorite so far is "Good Riddance-Time of your life" by Green Day! It sounds especially nice on my 'Fender Accoustic.' All 50 songs contain tabs, chords, and lyrics, that are easy peasy to play! If you like the songs on here I would highly recommend it for the price....

Ottima!!
