Seventh Son [Blu-ray + UV Copy] [2014]

I love this film. Seven Psychopaths will not be to everyones taste, but if you liked Martin McDonaghs earlier film 'In Bruges', then there is a good chance you will like this one too.The film is mostly a dig at Hollywood and its appetite for formulaic violence filled films. Colin Farrell plays Martin, an Irish scriptwriter who is stuck on his latest script. He has a title 'Seven Psychopaths' but precious little else. He wants the film to be about psychopathic murderers, but is not at all sure he wants it to be violent. He would prefer them to be zen psychopaths.Martin's out of work actor/dog kidnapper friend Billy is quite clear the film should be full of violence in true Hollywood tradition.As the film progresses real life events overlap with the script in a totally bonkers way.Yes the film contains quite a bit of violence (there is a clue in the title), but like 'In Bruges' there is a lot of very dark humour, and a terrific script. The cast are clearly having a lot of fun with Sam Rockwell (Billy) putting in an outstanding performance.

A thoroughly enjoyable Saturday matinee romp; knights, witches & dragons, what more do you want?Jeff Bridges fits nicely into the crusty old knight, bent on the destruction of witches and hopefully not his apprentices, Julianne Moore, queen of the witches enjoying herself being really evil and hopefully NOT the last of the witches and Ben Barnes getting caught in the middle as Jeff Bridges latest apprentice after the last one played by Kit Harrington (blink, and you'll miss him smile, for once...) gets killed in a hunt; as well as finding a few surprises in his past.Not a bad story, strong cast, though not stretched; well paced and strong special effects; an enjoyable fantasy flick.

Really enjoyed this film 🎬 it has a fabulous cast, dark and sarcastic.

Hilarious above and beyond movie. I love Colin Farrell in this movie. I am a huge fan of Sam Rockwell as well. However, at least in the DVD version (which I got) this image which I attach hereby, is missing. The scene is in the DVD version but not this frame. Not in the section of the cut bits, either or anywhere on the dvd for this matter. This frame/pic, with Colin Farrell putting his hand over Sam Rockwell mouth to shut him up in order to be able to carry out the conversion over the phone undisturbed (I am referring to the characters they are playing) is priceless. I am so sorry that it was not in the dvd.

Odd ball movie.Clever confidence trickster story woven around three friends a gangster and a couple of extraneous characters who make up the seven psychopaths.The movie is medium-paced, which is just as well due to the surreal plot line.It was a complete surprise as I did not expect much. However, I enjoyed this movie immensely, it has a certain black humour that I understand; having watched the movie. I believe the movie was British made. Great cast – good acting.Every Friday – at the end of the week, in our house it's movie night. This movie did not disappoint.

Having thoroughly enjoyed "3 billboards" I've been hunting down as many Martin McDonagh films as I can. This one has the makings of another cult movie as far as I am concerned. A cracking cast, inventive plotting and many of the tropes that distinguish McDonagh's earlier and later film work.This is not for people who dislike bad language or violence and is a very dark black comedy which I found extremely entertaining.If you liked "3 billboards" do watch "7 Psychopaths".

I was expecting something worse, given how cheaply Amazon was listing it at the time. And the price is why I've gone for four stars, because by most counts it's as Ronseal(tm) a fantasy movie as one can get, with better special effects than most.Most of the cast do better than the two 'leads'.However, Julianne Moore's performance is a micrometer from being so over-baked it's charcoal. Not mentioned the FUBAR by the costuming department for her. But it's not even close to how misjudged Jeff Bridge's 'spook' is. I know his speaking voice isn't the best, as least to me it isn't, but in this film he sounds half way between Vito Corleone and and any number of baccy chewing oafs in a number of films. I was half expecting him to spit tobacco between his all too frequent sips of alcoholic beverage. Come on Jeff, you can do better. Nearly ruined this film!Still, good fun overall.

I saw the trailer for this and had to buy it. Unfortunately it appears they put all the funny parts into the trailer and the movie disappointed. It is welll acted and it does have an ok script. I think it's meant to be over the top, it doesn't take itself seriously and that's a good thing. It's been a while since I watched it so I forget the names but Colin Farells best friend became seriously annoying after a while. You just sort of wonder why he's still friends with him because I certainly wouldn't be able to cope with the amount of irritation. That said, he has some brilliant scenes and it wouldn't be the same movie without him. Colin Farell and Christopher Walken play their roles to perfection. As does Woody Harrelson as the crime boss. The acting is superb and there's one over the top scene with an imagined movie shootout that's just awesome.It is was the annoying best friend that ruined the movie for me in the most part, but that's personal and probably won't affect everyone the same. I'm sure some people will love him. The best character is, in my opinion, Christopher's ex-Mormon(?) who has the exact right blend of quiet menace and dry humour.It is a good movie if you like darkly humoured films or are a fan of any of the stars.
