Purple Turtle Anti-Leech Protection Oversocks - Purple, Women's, Unisex-Adults, Over The Knee, One Size, 3 Count

Used in Borneo by my partner, when we went into the rain forest. ( I bought a cheaper make but being female wanted a pretty colour and style for myself and bought these for my partner- mine are now in the bin) They worked

The leeches can't get through them but they can climb up them and bore through your hiking trousers. Sprinkle them and your boots with powdered tobacco, it's a very effective deterrent (much better than sprays)

Lightweight, and a bit breathable, considering another layer on top of trousers . They have a seam which runs down and under middle of foot rather than around outer edge so when trekking you can feel the seam under foot especially when going down hill. Functional and did the job though, when walking through rainforest and paddi fields.

The product is no doubt excellent protection against leeches and perhaps deserving of 5 stars if you're a zoologist living in the Danum rain forest for weeks on end studying wildlife. The locals we met just wore football socks. I wore gaiters and seal waterproof socks; the combo worked well and proves more cost effective being more versatile. My fashion conscious wife didn't bother with any of it, and just flicked off the odd leech!
