Ninja NJinuity
What a great new appliance! My best friend got one last year and told me she uses it outside on her porch - all year long. I thought it looked small, but she said it handles a whole chicken, brisket, etc. I just love smoked chicken, smoked beef, smoked turkey, etc., so I decided to follow her lead and I got a Ninja Woodfire, too. The first thing I tried to smoke, I overcooked because I followed a suggestion to go to 205F internal temperature. I won't do that again, since we like our meat medium rare. We have been very pleased with the results - the added dimension of the smoked flavor is exquisite. I'm not expert yet at judging the cooking time, but as long as I have a little flexibility, it's going to be just fine! I am using and liking the internal thermometer - that way I can see when it's nearing the target temp, without opening the cover to stick in a meat thermometer and losing smoke and heat. I think that's a great feature, worth the extra cost for it. As far as assembly, the hardest thing was getting it safely out of the box with just one person. It's pretty heavy. It was easy to get the handles on and easy to see all the tape, etc., that needed to be removed before first use. I'm so enamored with the smoking feature that I haven't really tried much of the others. I did add cauliflower "steaks" to the griddle alongside something else, and they turned out great, but mostly it's just been the meats (brisket, leg of lamb, chicken). I'll try to add to this if I use the air fryer, etc. I'm very pleased with this cooker. There's so much about it that is well-designed. I expect it to continue to be a mainstay, especially while I can roast/grill/bake/smoke outdoors on our deck, leaving the kitchen cool all summer.

First let me start by saying that mu husband and I, have never thought we would be buying a electric grill. We hear so many negative things vs the traditional way but this has turned me into a believer. This thing is amazing! We love it and it fits our needs perfectly. We have added smoked to just about anything such as shrimp, chicken kabobs, hots dogs. The air fryer function works great! The fries came out nice and crispy . We smoked wings and then finish them off in the air crisp setting. We also smoked spare ribs just over the 4th of July and damn! They were luscious, fall off the bone. It is a a bit of learning curb still. We haven't used all the other functions but used it enough to make a review. It's also light and very portable. Eye catching and very beginner friendly. Fun to use. We took it to a cookout and everyone asked about it and It stood up the charcoal grilled being used that day. I would say if you have small space , for small gatherings it's perfect.

A year later still going
It is pretty good for an electric smoker griller with minimum clean up. I suggest you use the recommended pellets as the other types might have a higher moisture content & seem to be a bit larger. It’s has lots of functions but I mostly used the grill, smoker, air fryer & roaster. Smoke penetration is descent & when smoking I generally wrap the meat with foil once it achieves the desired darkness as in some instances it turns the meat real dark or black. You got to play with it a bit to get it down like with any grill but it’s pretty forgiving. It’s great with smoking Turkey. I have found ribs cook a lot faster than recommended & on medium better. I smoked a Turkey breast & orange duck stuffed with mandarin oranges it was delicious. Makes great steaks with thermometer at 1 1/4” to 1 3/4” thick. My 2 1/2” bone in ribeye steaks you got to possibly use a better thermometer or learn how to gauge it as it tends to cook the outer portions medium well & the inside medium rare on the rare setting. Great product overall for personal or small family use though. I love getting that smoke flavor w/o having to deal with the traditional charcoal. Smoked Jerk chicken on here fantastic too!

5 stars so far, will update if needed!
Just smoked something for my first time ever. I read reviews for nearly a year and I live in a 4th floor apartment so had very few choices. I got the ok from the management so pulled the trigger as a thank you to myself as a divorce gift. I’ve been busy so didn’t assemble for a few days. Bought a pack of wings and did an initial “burn off”. While I was prepping the wings I turned the unit on to “air fry” added some pellets and hit start. I could hear the unit beep to add food while prepping and hit start. I could smell the smoke and kept on for about 20 minutes while cutting up with wings into sections and sat and peppering. I never tossed with oil or baking powder and wow. I did full temp for 10 minutes, flipped them and another ten, dialed up the heat to 450 for 5 more and they weren’t super crispy, but clearly done. Well smoked. I had brined them, then smoked and air fried them, tossed in Buffalo sauce with blue cheese? So much flavor. Better than the wings I’ve had at other places that do the same thing. I’ll fry them longer, maybe hit them with baking powder and oil for the next time, but I have to make my Buffalo sauce thicker and more robust as well. The flavor of the smoke really added to the wings and I’ve not ever been so satisfied with non deep fried wings! I’ll update if I need to. Already bought a small Brisket, going to defrost the pork ribs, get a pork butt and try it all! What I’d like to see in the next version. Have the “smoker” be offset a bit. Also have the smoke be dialable. You get heavy smoke at high temps but that’s not ideal for long smokes. Make the hopper larger and have a separate control for smoke. That way you can have a cool surface and smoke it convection style with an offset smoker so you can dial in the amount of smoke and temp you want. It’s still an amazing machine for apartment owners. But I’d like to see those things and would happily pay extra for the implementation. That way the pellets would stay smoking heavy and evenly, a deep dark smoke ring instead of some smoke flavor (it’s great flavor don’t get me wrong) but that would make it perfect for 1-2 people and increase it acceptance in the smoking community. Yes, there’s a community of meat smokers.

Great results, but the tech is ANNOYING TO USE
I'll preface by saying I've used this grill extensively, and as a product designer myself, it was impossible to not be constantly bothered by the silly, nonsensical design choices made in this grill. Overall, it's super quick to start, easy to get going, cooks amazingly for what it is, but the user experience could be improved quite a bit. In theory, the grill tries to guide you along to do the right thing at the right time and make it stupid-baby-simple, but in practice, it obscures the simplicity of its functions, makes what you're trying to do annoying, and forces users to fight against the grill to do what they want. First, the knob for the mode selector. If you touch it in the middle of cooking and change a setting, which is quite easy to do, everything resets. I've had this happen more than once and it's very frustrating. I've also accidentally went from the "grill" setting to "off" a couple times by accident which just shouldn't be possible. This should be a much more rigid knob at the least, and the on/off switch should be a totally separate function. Alternatively, if you try to change a setting during cooking, the display should ask you if you actually want to change cooking modes and hit start to confirm. Second, the woodsmoke button is weird and not intuitive. You have to enable woodsmoke by pressing the button BEFORE pressing start or it won't ignite. There is a way to turn it on mid-grill by pressing and holding the woodsmoke button until it starts flashing but this isn't obvious and also doesn't seem to work as well. This should simply be an on/off switch on its own circuit and operate independently from the rest of the unit. There are times when I don't want to start smoking until later, or want to cut off the smoke when I think it's had enough, and I really can't do that unless I reset the grill and go through the motions again to get it running with the right settings. Next, temperature. Why is there not a thermometer reading on the interface or the shell of the grill so that you know what the air temp inside is? It absolutely has a thermoregulator because there's a preheat function that will change its progress bar if the grill is already hot when you begin the preheat, so its measuring something in there, but we aren't allowed to see it! Silly! The meat thermometer is nice and works well but sometimes I'm not cooking meats and still want a temp reading in there... Cooking... For whatever reason, the grill (and possibly other) setting adds in a random "FLIP FOOD" beep that triggers at half of whatever your grill time was when you set it. This is almost never correct, gets your attention for no reason, and won't go away until you lift and close the lid. Get rid of this dumb "feature". Because this is essentially an air fryer, almost every setting wants to utilize the internal fan. Depending on what you're cooking this can be really annoying. I've cooked pancakes on this using the flat top add-on, and when the fan kicks in, it makes the pancakes slide and fly around inside the grill. makes a huge mess. you have to stand there and lift and close the lid every time the fan kicks on. Please add a "griddle" setting or something that will not use the fans, or will only spin them a tiny bit. THE BEEPS - my god this thing likes to beep. it sings beeps all the time. Chill with the beeps unless the preheat is done or the timer is done. There's no other reason to bother me. Overall, I still really like it, it does cook very well despite its size and it basically being an air fryer. I've smoked pork to success, made pizzas, pancakes, bacon & eggs, anything you can think of, and it CAN yield great results... It really would be the perfect little electric grill if it would just shut the F up and let me use its functions the way I want to instead of pretending that it's helping me. Lastly.... "WOODFIRE" is a F'ing stupid misleading title for this thing. It's just not a woodfire grill. Factually, it is not the thing that it is called. That makes no sense and misleads users. This should have been called WOODSMOKE!!! Come on!!!

Fantastic, all purpose, small electric grill for pool side grilling.
This is the perfect type of electric grill for 2 people. Cooking in batches will also work for 4 people, 6 would be stretching it.

Saved us $10,0000 .. and took on Mexico vacay
I have the XL grill at home and wanted to take it with me to our vacation home in Cabo. I thought I was buying the XL again but somehow got this one and I am so happy we did.... And here's 3 reasons why 1. Cost is $300 so under the limit for importing this to Mexico with no taxes (be sure to have a screen shot of your receipt- you will need it) 2. Weight is under 50 pounds in the original package, so it can be shipped as luggage without any issue or extra charge. We did remove the pellets and put them in another checked bag. 3. We had been considering a $10,000 built in BBQ on our condo deck in Mexico but we used this last month and it was perfect for making 2 large steaks and veggies.. when we packed up to go home, we just cleaned, covered and placed in the kitchen out of the elements. It was the perfect addition to our vacation home and I don't have any desire for the built in anymore... Next trip I will bring the Ninja Stand down with us for even more comfort but it worked great on the wooden patio furniture (that we used on this first test) My only comment is you probably need a good extension cord (which I had for my laptop) to have maximum flexibility.. the cord is short The clean up is easy. The temp probe works flawless and makes cooking simple and precise ( I do miss the app that works with the XL ) but this is still easy to use The set up is simple .. add pellets, hit ignite and then choose your cooking temp. I think this would be great for small RVs .. and even for those of you with a Class A who miss your smoker at home ... You will need power but you probably have solar or hook ups so no worries there.

Great product
I've been a backyard smoker/griller for over 50 years so I think I know what I'm talking about. I will tell you this thing works so well I got rid of my Webber kettle and gass grills. It's the answer to easy, convenient, delicious authentic bbq. The first item I tried was chicken thighs which were superb. Since then everything else has been wonderful. Perfectly smoked, cooked to perfection and in record time. No more charcoal, messy ashes, charcoal starter, grill scrubbing, wood chips/chunks, over/under cooking and guess work. Also gone are the countless hours waiting for charcoal to get ready and for things to get "done". I do recommend buying the model with the temperature probe.
