SURAIELEC 300W Wi-Fi Low Voltage Landscape Transformer, 2 Zone, ETL Listed

Backyard remodel ongoing... Contractor offered a Pro Trade 300W transformer - what a dinosaur. Only one output, no connectivity at all, not even a timer. Huge box, super heavy. Enter the Suraielec - after some research, purchased 2 of these 300W units. Love at first sight. Box is probably 30-40% lighter than Pro Trade, has 2 outputs, has a proper external top-mounted whip antenna (not just a loose wire that is subject to placement, typically downwards which affects reception if close to the ground), and has a nice matte black finish, easily paintable. Was concerned with WiFi setup, so plugged in the units inside the house first. WiFi setup was easy and worked immediately on both boxes. Took the boxes outside to the far corner of the yard, and tested connectivity. ON/OFF is nearly instantaneous, very impressive compared to many other IoT devices we have, that often have lag. Five star experience so far. Only question is reliability, we'll see how it goes. For one third the cost of Pro Trade, it's a no-brainer.

I installed this in my garage on the lowest level of my home. My router is on the third floor. I had no issues connecting the transformer to the router and adding the Alexa skill to my home setup. I use Alexa as the timer because I already have an extensive Alexa setup in my home and I can't use a light sensor in my garage to trigger the lights. (Note I actually prefer a time-based trigger rather than an external light trigger). It's a beefy unit but I had no problems installing the wall anchors and hanging the unit on my drywall. Electrical hookup was easy as the terminals were large enough to make using 14 gauge wire easy. It supports two separate circuits so one will be for the outdoor stairs lighting while the other will be for the driveway. Total 300W across both circuits.

I bought two of these one stoped working after a few months. I emailed Suraielec support. Murphy took care of it right away. He emailed me everyday to keep me up to date. I had a new one in less than a week. I have so many other issues in my life but this was so wonderfully handled. Thank you. You have no idea how nice it was and one less issue. Thanks again.

I purchased (2) of the 300W version for a client and one of them stopped working after a few months. So I purchased a replacement (at my own cost) and THAT one stopped working after a few weeks. So (2) out of (3) are on the junk pile. I'm stumped. They are all in the same location, within a few feet of the WiFi router. They work fine for a while... and then they don't. I've also purchased (3) of the 200W and (1) of the 120W. So far those are all still functioning properly. There is no customer service to call, so I'm stuck with (2) dead 300W transformers. I'm very frustrated and embarrassed by all the troubleshooting I've had to do, without any success. If anyone has an alternative product to recommend, I'm all ears.

Update 09/22/2024: Yuki from Suraielec contacted me soon after the original review below. After going through some troubleshooting steps, she concluded that the unit was defective. She immediately sent me a replacement. The replacement appears to be the same a same as the original unit. It was much easier to connect to WIFI this time and the transformer is working as expected. Kudos to Suraielec's customer service in resolving this matter. I'm changing my rating to 4 stars because of Suraielec's customer service and the build quality of the transformer. It would be 5 stars if the Smart Life app was more intuitive since it is necessary for scheduling the timer. Original review: Looks like the only way to contact this vendor is by giving them a one star review as others have done. The website has no contact phone number. The email [email protected] bounces. The transformer had issues right from the beginning and I should have returned it immediately. It was very hard to get it to connect to Bluetooth and WiFi. The it stopped working after 6 months. There is power going to it as I can see the pairing light come on. But the connected lights won't turn on even in manual mode. So Surailec, please contact me to rectify this problem. Thanks.

I purchased this item even though it had no reviews at the time, the selling points are 300 watts, 2 zones, integral wifi and the price ($119). I have had the unit running for about 2 weeks so I can't comment on the durability. Installing it was easy, the two channels are helpful to control 2 zones, in my case the front and back yard lighting. Each zone has both 12v nd 15v connections and can be operated independently via the app or by the switches on the transformer. I mounted the unit on an exterior wall and the unit connected flawlessly to my wifi AP located about 30 feet away and inside my home. The Alexa integration works well and with little lag time. With Alexa, I scheduled the unit to turn the lights on 15 minutes before sunset and off at 1:00 am, there have been no issues with it operating that way. The unit appears to be well made and I am happy with the purchase, I'll update this review if I have any issues with the product.

I bought this product in hope it would work to my satisfaction. I hooked it up and loaded the app and it works perfect. For the price and quality, I would highly recommend this product.

This low voltage transformer has its pros and cons: Pros: 1. Compact design. It comes with mounting brackets and bolts for easy installation. 2. WiFI connectivity is simple and easy. It linked to my smart home hub and Alexa with no difficulties. 3. Instructions and low voltage wire connections are straightforward and easy to use. 4. Each transformer has 2 zones. Great for splitting up different lights in different areas of the yard / house. Cons: 1. This device does not weather well. I mounted this device outside in a protected area on the wall of my house. The outside became discolored and showed more wear than it should have within 4 months of use. 2. I mounted two transformers for multi-zone separation. After 4 months of use, one transformer stopped working. I had to purchase another transformer as a replacement and hope there are no more failures. I recommend mounting these transformers inside a covered area like a garage to keep it out of the elements. In the future, I would drill a small hole through the wall and properly seal it to connect the low voltage wiring to the transformer. Although the price point per devise is good, failed devices increase the cost when replacements are needed.
