You can trace it right back to U2 and Simple Minds' stadium-rawk sound in the 1980s, and now Irish duo Agnelli & Nelson have transposed the sound of the overblown, the grandiose, the ludicrously self-indulgent to the dance floors of the Naughties. So anthemic in their intentions are "Obea", "Everyday" and "Vegas", they make Jim Steinman productions look like the model of subtlety. But just as you've got them pegged as BT-acolytes, they go all eclectic, albeit with the same widescreen pretensions: "Santiago" and "Sidewalk Driller" mix drum and bass with dirty breakbeats, while "Singing For The Future" is Clannad for clubheadz. "Slide" even features a rather lame spoken-word rap that's faithful to Faithless' sound.
