What is the maximum height while still maintaining the monitors side by side? I do not want to be looking down while using a standing desk.

When I have them side by side in the highest position, the bottom of the screen is about 35cm or 14 inches from my desk.

Can one monitor (27") be mounted above the other?

Yes but there will be some overlap. I lose about 1.5" of the top screen with a 24" on top and a 27" on bottom

Is there room with the grommet installation to route cables through the hole and out the back of the base?

There is a space to route the cords through the arms and out the back, but my cord wall plug and the adapter that connects to my screens, were too large to string through.

Will this fit two 32" ultra wide monitors?

While I think it would be possible, I think your options on angle and height would be severely limited and it would negate the purpose of having the arms.
