Fantastic art book for comic and ALIEN film fans
After ordering in March I had to wait until October to finally get my hands on the much anticipated Alien: Illustrated Story (original Art Edition) It compliments my copy from the 1980's wonderfully. That was in full color, but this is the artist edition, black and white, scanned from the original comic strip art boards the artist Walt Simonson kept. Despite being in black and white, pre-colouring, the book is actually in full colour, allowing you to see the bluish hue of white out used to correct mistakes, and even what looks like the odd coffee spill! It's also printed actual size, so the book is huge! (only complaint- I don't have a shelf it will fit on!) A fantastic reference for any comic artist, comic fan or fan of the film Alien, as it shows the art as it would have looked, and includes samples of the script (by Archie Goodwin) based on the screenplay including some ideas that didn't make it into the final film which will be of interest to ALIEN fans. There's also a Q and A which reveals how the book came about, the process and Walt's trip to England to see the film being made. A fantastic book, one of the best I have (well I am a fan) and for the price I bought it at (half price!) an absolute steal! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Well done
I bought this as a fan of Alien and Aliens. I love books, reading as much and as often as I can. I will also own up to being a bit of nerd - which all of a sudden has become cool - Go figure? I read comic books so purchasing this item was a bit of no brainer. We mostly all know the story of alien so that can be by pasted. What I will review is the quality of the book, which is massive. The actual dimension is what Iam referring to. Completely oversized which was a surprise to me when it arrived. This makes the story in this form original and freshly appealing. Quality of the binding and the paper used make this a book to cherish and looked after. An excellent reimagining of the original book. There are a few different styles and size of this book out if you had to pick I would suggest this addition to all the others for the reason stated above. Architect

A fine supplement to the film.
I loved this. The original 'colour' was a detractor for me. The worst picture is actually used for the cover! The alien was never orange. I recall reading this in Black and white on a school trip to France. It was and is epic. A fine supplement to the film. One time Ripley encounters the alien presenting itself as almost a dormant looking thing, a cocoon, horribly incongruous in a corridor. Ignoring the colour of the alien the colour of the characters Dallas Bret etc is great. Almost 5 stars. (I bet the expensive B&W large print would be 5 stars)

It's a big book !!
I had this graphic story when it first came out and it went by the wayside when you don't realise what a collectable might be. In my "fake" memory, I remembered it as a rough retelling of the film with some exaggerated alien attacks, totally out of proportion from the rest of the scene. Being an alien fan, I am pretty much guaranteed to buy almost anything related and the recent surge of books (and reprints)(please reprint the photonovel [and the "OUTLAND" one too]) so when the reprint was optioned I wanted to revisit the illustrated story. I felt obligated to get the original art edition as I tend to head to special/limited edition items first and felt that this would incorporate the softcover story plus extras. However, it doesn't.... quite. The softcover has the illustrations in colour.... But this..... is better. All the orginal artwork is in fine black and white and strangely I love the touches of corrective fluid kept within the pages. The character likenesses are fairly accurate but what sells it is the visuals. The aliens are as OVERSIZED as I remembered them but actually now it's to the credit and horror of the story. The additional scripts and some background notes are included. It could have been complete with a final work colour print but I actually found the raw black and white a better visual aid, a chance to take a fresh look at a classic film. You can get the final coloured "cut" in a bargain priced softcover edition. I prefer this one. And the book.... IS SO BIG. Spend that little bit extra and get this and before the price bumps up !!!

Classic adaptation with great Simonson art
A little thinner than I expected it to be - but the reproduction quality is good on glossy paper. A very good adaptation of the first Alien film with great art by Walt Simonson

A gorgeous sci-fi graphic novel
This book is beautifully rendered and follows the plot and tone of the film very well, maintaining all the essential and human moments of the original script, while still having plenty of originality in its visual style

Its great 👍.
It’s like an updated version of “Alien “ adoption, or is a reprint of the one from eighties . Either way it good have graphic novel of it again.Which looks like the artists and writers did a great job on it. And great buy for anyone likes the “Alien series “.
