Read the instructions carefully and tried out on a battery that I had just fully charged.First tried the charge level (no need to move the load switch just connect the leads to the battery terminals) and it gave good info on the level of charge.Then tried the load tester which I guess replicates what happens when you draw current from the battery in the car and got the result-take care not to keep the load switch on for more than 10 secs as the switch might burn out-the instructions give a warning.Using the load tester for the first time gives off a smell but the instructions warn you of this. Instructions are fairly clear and easy to follow.Leads could be a little longer though.Otherwise a good piece of kit for checking on car battery conditions.From experience Sealy products are usually pretty good.

This is a really useful device for testing whether or not a battery is 'fit for purpose' by applying a 'load' that will cause the gauge to indicate if there are any dead cells and whether the battery has any useful life in it. Most useful on starter and leisure batteries for vehicles, boats and caravans. Test one battery only at a time, hence the need for only short leads. Cheap, reliable and packs away neatly. Recommended.

I tested a bank of 4 AGM domestic power batteries and it picked out the bad one in no time at all. Make sure you follow the instructions and it is a great product.

The switch was defective as it did not disconnect the load in the off position. Being an electrical engineer I was able to repair it but in doing so have invalidated my guarantee. Did not wish to go through the return item system at the price paid. Battery leads a bit short but item works well on testing. Could do with a more substantial switch with 'On-Off-On' label.

As the title said. I brough this fantastic piece of kit years ago. It has worked fantasticly. Especially in front of customers as they get a clear reading in simple terms weather there battery is ok. Used it to sell many batteries. But its also fantastic at quickly deciding weather a battery is ok. Im giving it 4 stars only because one of the crimps broke early on but a new crimp and shes been good as gold ever since if.
