Man made, soft, flexible plastic. The construction is good.

How wide is the inside main compartment? I know it's listed at 5.2 overall but am looking for a camera bag & for a pretty large camera.

I don't think this would make a very good camera bag, the material is thin. I would go for a bag that is made specifically for your camera this bag is for toiletries.

How should I clean it?

I would just say to use a damp cloth and let it air dry.
