Decent boots
These boots are decent for the price, waterproof so far but not used them in saturated conditions as yet.Would advise going a size up when buying. I'm an 11, bought 11.5 and still a bit tight and would be tighter wearing 2 pairs of socks.

Good, reliable, comfortable mid range boot
Salomon has been my go-to brand for hiking boots over the last ten years and have carried me many a mile over many a mountain. My last two pairs were Salomon X Ultra Mid 3 GTX, but sadly can’t seem to find these anywhere now and I imagine they’re discontinued. The Salomon X Braze boot looked very similar and on the face of it has similar features, with Gore-tex waterproof membrane, the contigrip outsole, strong toe box etc. so decided to give it a try. Firstly let’s cover size: I’d read a few reviews that said the sizing was small on these. My normal shoe is 7.5, and I always go half size up in a walking boot. My last two pairs of Salomon have been size 8 and fitted perfectly, so I ordered 8 again (but played safe by using Try before you buy). I’m pleased to say the X Braze fitted perfectly and seemed to me to be the same size 8 as my previous boots. I tested this by removing the insoles and putting in my custom orthotics which also fitted perfectly. On to comfort: to test the boots out I wore them for a couple of short walks of about 1.5 miles and they felt very comfortable. Slightly stiff maybe compared to my old ones, but that’s to be expected for brand new boots. The second walk, the following day, was a real test! A 12 mile hike in the hills across a mix of wet boggy terrain and rough stony tracks! The boots were very comfortable and tbh, I forgot I wasn’t wearing my old ones! My feet remained dry and no soreness whatsoever. Traction-wise they were generally very good, there was a little sideways slip on muddy sloping banks but other than that they coped really well. As the video shows, the cleaned up pretty well by just allowing the mud to dry and then banging it off. You can also see the gussetted sock-type tongue which prevents water getting in. The lacing system is good and the laces remained fastened for the duration. I would have preferred two grab lace loops at the top of the boot rather than just one as I find this easier to release and get the show off. Salomon have clearly tried to save some money on the insoles - they are poor quality and offer no arch support at all. To me this isn’t a problem as I always use my own orthotic insoles to replace the standard ones anyway so they went straight in the bin. Summary: a good mid range boot, fitted well and true to size IMO. Suitable for multi-terrain walking and hiking and on hills. Feels like a bit of a slightly de-specified version of my old favourite the Mid 3 GTX, probably more of a £90 -£100 boot than £115, but a very good all rounder.

waterproof, comfortable and durable
I tried them on in the shops before ordering mine online. I bought size 11 because I wear 10.5. they are light weight and feel very comfortable. I was used to Merrells, which were so comfortable that I struggled to get shoes I would like. I tried Nike, addidas and realized they were no where near my Merrels. Eventually, I settled for the Salomon. I wear them everyday and in all weather. They can get a bit hot during the summer. I choose to walk when possible (by choice to avoid the gym membership fees) so walking and trekking are important to me.The shoes are very sleek, light weight, waterproof and very robust. I waited after 9 months to write a review because I didn't want any surprises.

New boots
So far so good! Very comfortable. Good support. Mainly done beach and dune walking with stony footpaths and across fields. No complaints so far and they look good too.

Too small
I've worn salomon speedcross trainers for years and although they are generally a tight fit, never had a problem with them.Due to this I ordered these expecting a very similar fit and experience. But the sizing is completely different. Order my normal size that was way too small, ordered one size up and they still rub in specific areas, I can't get a bigger size or else they would be like clown shoes.Returned both pairs, gone for a different brand. On the positive side, the returns process was simple with no charge to myself. (Still pending monies, so may need to update later)

Crazy trend how smaller these shoes become.
I used to hold a brand as I was relatively happy with their product and I know what to expect from their sizing. I don't have too big feet my size is UK7 and I thought I give it a little bit more room so I choose 7.5... It was super small, I couldn't get it to my feet. Then went for 8... it was too small either so went up to 8.5 and I can now squeeze my foot in but feel like a really narrow way to a small shoe... I still have my old size 7 shoe (really worn down but it fits well now and it fit well on day 1 approx 6 years ago) next to it and I just don't get why... The other brand I liked did something similar, the length was okay (went for size 7.5) but their shoes become so narrow I don't even bother to try another one anymore.

Nice hiking trainer
0lI ordered these hiking shoes in an 8.5 im a size 8.5 to a size 9. I read the reviews of how small made they were and immedietly thought oh no they will be too small i checked my sizes in all other hike boots and trainers and only had 1 other hike boot sized 8.5 and they fitted like a glove so when theze arrived i unboxed and tried them on delighted they also fit like a glove even though my other size 9 hiking trainers do anyway love these hike traoners awesome fit.

Comfortable, lightweight shoe but not sure about the sizing
I am a UK size 8 and the fitting is a little 'snug' - I've persevered with them but I would have probably been better with an 8.5 size. The shoe is well constructed, lightweight and waterproof.
