Very Disappointing ...Beware
I have just used this particular model to travel down to Devon ,what a nightmare .My old Tom Tom was far superior even if the screen was smaller. One of the biggest issues was the screen contrast, it as so difficult to see the screen .It all looked rather muted and as i said lacked contrast. Also the voice command was extremely slow.On more than one occasion we had passed the junction,or didn't have enough time to make the maneuver without causing an accident. I can't understand why this is as I thought the software would have been the same as my old Tom tom.I struggled to get the tethering working and when I did I couldn't update from the Tom Tom site it just kept telling me to try again later !! So disappointing .I thought I was buying a better more improved Tom Tom .Not the case unfortunately.

Poor interface, poor keyboard, but directions are OK.
Poor interface, awkward to use, but once underway the directions are good but the searching for addresses/postcodes is poor. The screen does not respond to all finger presses so mistypes are common which is annoying. On starting up, the unit says "Connected to computer" even though it is plugged into my car, and you have to click 'back' to get to the menu, there is no point to this, why not just present me with the menu from the start? TomTom have lost their way with the design of this unit - the last (old TomTom) one I had was simple to use and efficient, this one requires too many finger presses to achieve something. Also some items are not in the "obvious" menu section, so I had to hunt around for the feature to find it was in a ridiculous place. The keyboard is annoying - when typing in a postcode, it is always going to be a mix of letters and numbers so I'd prefer the keyboard to show an alpha-numeric keyboard. That's why I gave it 2 stars - I do regret buying this.

Good kit, deal not as good as it seemed
its actually pretty good as a piece of kity once you get the hang of it. Speed restriction notification and traffic camera warnngs were a bonus I did not expect. The fitting bracket is such that you can only attach it to a windscreen, which limits placement. Big moan though about the special offer of cashback which prompted me to buy this model - claiming the casback was such a pain as to be virtually impossible and I gave up. Re registering the unit on the website - it is described as having lifetime updates (which means, I think four times/year) I am a bit concerned that I may have ticked the wrong option when registering online, so we shall see!

Great SatNav
I bought myself this for christmas. One thing I wanted to do was is use an actual satnav for directions and using your phone isnt always the best option. This Satnav is perfect as I can connect my phone to it over bluetooth tethering and get traffic updates which works perfectly. When you purchase this Satnav, you'll need to download the MyDrive TomTom software application on your computer. With this you'll then have to create an account which to then you'll be able to pay for any additional services like speed cameras for 1.5x year or what ever it is. You can get map updates and remove which ever maps of Europe that you dont want which takes up memory. You can buy a Micro SD Card for this so you can use more maps but I haven't found the need for this yet.I have also had this product for 2 years and mainly use it for motorway journeys that are 1-2 hours long and haven't had this fail on me once.

Does the job but does not impress
Bought to replace a previous TomTom Satnav that would no longer hold its charge (virtually impossible to replace a battery on these devices) and was failing to get a consistent GPS signal. Interface not as intuitive as the previous model and of course comes with no user guide of any description.Navigating to regular saved addresses takes too many clicks. Live traffic is provided via bluetooth connection to my iPhone. Compared to the previous Live information (when it worked) on my last TomTom I am not convinced that the information for a long journey is accurate. It only seems to predict traffic problems within the next 20 miles. It does the job but has no wow factor.

I like to have my sat nag stuck on my driver ...
I returned this. The real reason for the return was that I couldn't get it to pair with my iPhone, so the traffic wouldn't have worked. It 'caught site' of the phone after 10 minutes or so, when the phone was literally touching it, but even not permanently and even when it could see it, it wouldn't pair. So that was why I returned it. My previous (still current as a result) TomTom has never had a problem with this. However, I also struggle with the mount. I can see they've tried to make the mount less fiddly than the older one i have. But on this model you always have to remove the whole thing, whereas before i could just pick the satnav off the top and leave the base in place (so no fiddling with suckers that don't seal every time I drive). Second, this model is too big for the lack of base. I like to have my sat nag stuck on my driver side door window (just at the edge, on the bit that doesn't go up and down!) and the fixing means this gadget is too big to do that because of the angle. I guess one could buy an accessory and put it on the dashboard but it seems a bit of a faff.
