Guardian Senior Grain Free High Protein Premium Dry Cat Food 4lb Bag

My two 12 year old cats are crazy about this dry cat food. Right from the start. I like the high quality of ingredients and the fact that it’s grain free. Cats just don’t have the ability to properly digest grains due to a smaller intestinal tract and the inability to produce enough enzymes to metabolize them. Plus, I had a cat that was allergic to wheat, so I avoid grains for my cats all together. The smell of this dry cat food is not bad for us humans. The kibble is small, which is good for kitties who have trouble chewing. I feed my boys wet food daily, but I was looking for an healthier alternative to dry treats like greenies or dentables. At first I cringed at the price. But after cost comparisons of decent quality cat treats to Orijen dry cat food, the cost comes to about even. So, I plan to use this as delicious and nutritionally healthy cat treats. My fur babies gobble up a handful of morsels throughout the day and I feel better about what I’m giving them.

Change my cat to this food after the other, one becoming more and more difficult to get.. The cat actually like this one right away. Definitely a serious investment given the cost, but this is a rare grain free dry cat food that does not have pea or lentil as one of the primary ingredient, so that’s make it worth the price. Also, because this one higher in calorie, I can feed less to maintain the same body weight and that’s help with the cost long-term.

My cat loves this food and I will continue to buy it as I think it is better for him than the Royal Canin he was raised on.

Read a lot of great reviews of this product before I jumped in to purchase it. I feed my cats a completely wet food diet however I was looking for a little supplemental dry food for overnights. I resist wanting to buy dry food bc I know it's not good for them so I wanted to make sure the dry food I bought would be healthy. When I researched the ingredients of this food I was surprised to see how healthy it was. I feed this for some over nights for my two cats to tide them over. They come running for it and they clean the bowls. So far I've seen healthy coats and no digestive issues at all. I'm thrilled with it and like I said the ingredients are very good. Worth the money for me especially since I supplement with it. I will purchase again when I run out. Very pleased.

It has a very, very strong smell. While all cat food does, this is more pungent that any other cat food I've used. That said, we have a very picky senior who will still have some, and one with an allergy that this seems to trigger less often. I'll take the smell and cost to not have to clean up vomit every day. Of our three cats it's craveable for two of them and at least tolerable for the 17 year old.

I'm not claiming this the world's best cat food, but I am saying our pickiest eater was going after the unopened sack when he smelled it and ate it like he's not been fed in months If he's that sold at his age (13 years) this is going to be our standard dry cat food. Hoping the rest of the pride feels the same. The cost is worth it when we are throwing so much food we buy for them out. I must say when I checked the nutritional info on the bag I was favorable impressed. Free range chicken, wild caught fish - sounds healthy to me. And yes, all of the other 5 agree.

Cat likes it

Dang expensive, but this food has a great looking ingredient list AND all 3 of our cats will eat the same food! quite a feat. I should not say that they like it, I mean the way they like junk treats or junky cat food, but they will eat it properly when they get ready for a meal. We have been feeding this food for 1 to 2 months now with good results. The list of ingredients in this food does not resemble most other cat kibble so i will see how we do long term. We had one cat that had started vomitting almost all of the cheaper food she preferred but we swithched to the Orijen Senior because it was the best looking ingredients of anything in the pet food market that I saw. Its also the most expensive, but its still way less than a trip to the vet. We are on our third or 4th bag, and I can't find these big bags locally.
