LIFX Color 5-6" 800 Lumen Downlight E26 Retrofit White

Perfect drop in upgrade that easily plugs in. I have it running daily, for many hours. The expected lighting quality, durability, and performance from LIFX in a unique form factor. Functions as intended and met all expectations. No flickering.

I chose Lifx because it has the most accurate colors, in contrast to Hue (in 2024), which I used previously, and doesn't require a hub. My home automation is based on Apple Homekit, and this syncs up nicely with that. The previous owner used Control-4, and I strongly recommend against any specialized home OS because you will pay a fortune every time you upgrade your system, and you will be upgrading over time. These lights are also compatible with Amazon Alexa and Google Home, if that is your preference. After > 1 year, all lights work well with no dead lights, unlike my experience with Hue bulbs. Price is more than those generic Chinese-made lights, but the color is more accurate. As cost is always an issue and since we standardized all lights to 3500K (we wanted a neutral colored white light), all main rooms have Lifx lights, and the hallways and basement have a Chinese-made downlights. These Lifx lights have an accurate, neutral light; the Chinese downlights have a slight red tinge to them, which isn't noticeable unless you have the two lights next to each other. You also see it reflected in the paint colors, especially if you have a greige color. I don't regret going for this mixed approach as it was a good compromise between quality and cost.

Amazing!! I have 2 of the downlights in my kitchen. Now both offices have these bulbs to match. Slowly going to knock out the rest of the entire house bexause these things are absolutely phenomenal. You can switch from any hue/temp white from a low res flickering candlelight, to a full blast blue tinted spotlight. They dance to music, have themes, easy color changing, set to timers, they dance and have all the settings your could possibly imagine. I like to set mine to forests & oceans most of time. Paired with all my plants, and the woods directly behind my home, I get lost in meditation now as you can really make your home into a dark foresty environment in less than 5 seconds! Like I said, I’m doing the entire home now, including some seeet LeD spiral bulbs for the lamps and such (they all connect and talk through Bluetooth!

East to install. Works great after PAINFULL pairing setup to phone & LIFX Smart Switch. Instructions included & on LIFX app & site are abysmal. Suggest abandoning LIFX app & pair directly to Apple Home App. Must do each light individually; then group them. You will need EACH QR code on the instruction insert (each light has a different QR code). If you lose that paper you need the code on the fixture. Hard to read & you will need to remove from fixture to see it.

I have used many LIFX light through out the house. Since they have not had the downlight retrofit I ordered and have used Philips Hues. I would go so far as to say I really like the way the LIFX light work much much better than the Hues. The LIFX Retrfit downlight is brighter, and maintains its color setting better then the Hues and is also cheaper. Now that LIFX are actually making these retrofit downlights I may just pull the Phillips Hues and replace them all with the LIFX bulbs.

They flickered terribly in my house. I installed them correctly. I’ve had LIFX products for eight years probably I’ve purchased thousands of dollars and these lights but these are by far the worst ones I’ve bought. They look awesome when they work, but the flickering makes it a migraine machine. They’re extremely cheap for the money. I would say only because they suck. Not all of them are like this only some of them. I have a total of 11 in my house and three of them flicker really badly.

This was a huge improvement after our contractor installed old school 6" cans instead of more modern looking 4" cans. The LIFX product installed easily and the app is much improved.

Easy to install, easy setup and quality product. Use it as a night light too set on a schedule to turn on at 1% half an hour before sundown and turn off half an hour after sunrise. Neat features, if wanted
