Power and control.in a battery powered 3x21 belt sander. Please note this tool required the larger mutivolt batteries 2.5/5 or 4/8 36v batteries or the wall adaptor. This is a high drain device and works well on both battery or wall adaptor. Belt tracking is easy, weight distribution is very balanced with the battery a little lighter with wall adaptor. I like the ergonomics as the handle and front hand support are a little smaller and fit my medium size hands well. Toll volume is reasonable for a belt sander. I haven't had to use ear protection. One of my concerns is heat build up on the sanding belt. This will cause the fine wood to cake up on the belt. It has a dial speed control and please use it. This is Normally caused by the user pushing too down too hard on the material and the belt speed being too high on higher grit belts.This is not the tools fault this is user error. Some people may find the casing to seem cheap, its solid and protects the unit well. Easy to remove cover plate (2 srews) allows unit to be blown out after use.Dust extraction is either into the provided bag or hooked up to your dust extraction system. It may be because I'm used to other sanding equipment and belt sanders are pretty foreign to me but this thing isn't great. Wanders pretty bad when you try to use it as mentioned in other comments (my 30 year old corded Makita doesn't) The dust port situation is kind of funky, not sure if I'm missing what the connection is supposed to be but it sort of fits my Fein vac but not very well. Nice that it can use the adapter for AC power. A tool I'll use sporadically so not a big deal.

The first sander from the warehouse was filthy dirty with epoxy or boat hull paint. The new one from Amazon is great.

Unit will drain the big 36v battery in about 4 minutes. It even blew my 36 v ac adapter after about 5 min. AC adapter need to be replaced I own many Metabo HPT tools on the multivolt platform but for me, the belt sander is not worth buying.
