The kit needs a bit of patience and time to develop the mushrooms, but once they are going they are very active. I got about 3 flushes out of the kit around 3lbs total or so.The mushrooms are not exactly like the Portabellas you get in the supermarket, the texture is a bit different. But close enough. The flavor is very good.You will need to keep a temperature between 63-68 approximately. This is what I learned when I asked them. Their customer services was excellent, Wendy got back to me immediately with that advice, detailed explanations and a lot more good suggestions which helped me to give the kit the best conditions.The instructions they put into the kit are very detailed, the overview sheet was extremely helpful. The kit comes with everything except a "humidity tent" but one can use anything really. I luckily had a humidity tent from a shitake log before which fit over that kit here like a glove. It had some holes and was made from clear plastic. Any larger plastic bag will work.This kit has a great price/yield ratio and highly recommend it.

I’ve purchased this product several times. I’m never disappointed. Comes with clear instructions, that when followed, ensure beautiful delicious mushrooms. My last order would have arrived shortly after hurricane Milton the owner noticed this, called me and rescheduled the order and before shipping called to check I was ok and that it was ok to ship. Great product and caring owner. Worth the price.

WOW! They grew SO FAST! One day I found a white haze over the substrate (the “soil” cube they grow on. The next day there were little white bumps all over the cube. I’d say less than three weeks later I had full grown Baby Bella mushroom all over The cube! I could barely see the substrate at all. As I picked them I found that more were growing underneath already! We luxuriated with super fresh, clean, firm baby portabellas. In fact, I scrambled to find new recipes. I was able to get three full cycles out of that cube. They were delicious. Now we’re spoiled as they tasted so much better than the ones from grocery stores. And they grow SO fast they’re fun to watch. I highly recommend these “shrooms”!

I ordered the portobello Cremini mushroom kit. It failed to produce any mushrooms.. I contacted. The seller told him I followed the instructions word for a word and watch the video still produce no mushrooms. They wanted to know how I can follow them instructions. I would not recommend this product.

I became a vegetarian (not by choice, I have a medical condition), and finding affordable substitutes for protein can be somewhat challenging. I also home school, so I found this product to metaphorically kill two birds with one stone! I also discovered the flavor difference in growing your own verses buying them from the stores. When you buy them from a grocery store, the frill on the underside is already dark brown or black. When you grow them they are a lovely reddish-brown when it's time to harvest. It's so much tastier, the deep richness of the flavor alone is reason enough to grow your own. Plus it's reasonably easy. I'm capable of accidentally killing a cactus, but have already started on the third crop from this one box.

It was a fun experiment that yielded some very delicious large shrooms. Unfortunately, for me it was one and done. I do not have a green thumb and could not get a second harvest.

This mushroom growing kit is interesting and fun to grow. if you order one, be patient, as it takes a long time before the mushrooms start to emerge. I think this is a novel and clever idea. The entire kit is a preinoculated box of compost inside of a plastic bag. The written instructions are confusing though. I would recommend viewing their You Tube video first, then read the instructions over and over and they will then make more sense. The information is detailed, lengthy, and takes up 4 pages. The most confusing part for me was figuring out the purpose of the separate bag of "Casing" material. At first I thought maybe the mushroom spawn was in the casing bag and that the soil in the box was sterile compost. it is just the opposite. Pay close attention to the last page which offers a glossary of terms and definitions of what "Casing" means . Some of the steps in the instructions were also confusing, and sometimes contradictory. They have a customer support e mail address where you can ask questions, which is nice.I am just now seeing mushrooms emerging, but it takes several weeks, so keep that in mind. I would like to offer a suggestion to the owners of the family business. Have you considered hiring a technical writer to help make the instructions more understandable and readable? The information is there, just very complicated, disorganized, and hard to understand for us "Newbies". I think this is a nice product overall, and fairly simple once you understand how it works. I think it is worth buying if you want to try growing your own mushrooms at home.

Followed the instructions and they grew a bit faster than anticipated. Picked them after this picture and then cleaned and sliced them up for a garlic butter sauté. They were delicious. I was able to get another growth but only a few. I grew them in the basement that was 64 - 66 degrees and about 52% humidity. I would recommend them.
