It's like a curate's egg, good in parts!
The colanders with their large openings are a big let down. A substantial quantity of the white of the egg leaks out and sticks to these, an unacceptable waste. It seems that the directions given by the manufacturers have not been tested by them themselves. For instance, instructions to half fill the cup with cold water and then drop the raw egg makes more of the egg white to stick to the base. Instead, heat the water in the microwave for 1 min and then drop the egg and, of course, pierce the yolk on the top, no need to fill it up to the brim thereafter. 1 minute 30 seconds at 900w for 2 eggs should do the trick. Discard the colanders!!

Great egg poacher
Nice product for poaching eggs! The eggs stay nice and dry and the water stays below in a separate section.

Great gadget
Well made, comes with clear instructions. Some boil over so I will put a plate under it next time. Easy clean up. Happy with this purchase.

Great for quick pasta dishes
This is a great cooker to have for quick, one or two person pasta meals. I've done fettuccini and spaghetti thus far and both turned out great. The included instructions are needlessly complicated, metric and in tiny type, so it makes your first time using harder than it needs to be. They list all these different types of pasta but the vast majority of them use the exact same timing and water amounts! I pretty much just redid the table in english units and made it a lot easier to use. I have not used it as a rice cooker so I have no comments on that aspect. There are a bunch of different versions of this same cooker concept and there were two reasons I went with this one over the others. The first is I like the no lid design. Makes it easy to clean and store. The second is previous experience with Joseph Joesph microwave cookware. Their stuff has always done well for me and wears well, so I'm optimistic this one will do the same.

Works well -PERFECT poached egg
This microwave egg poacher worked wellThe poached egg was perfectI regular make poached eggs in the microwave in a concave bowl, with a lid and using a slotted spoon but wanted an all in one solutionSo do you need this ? not really but I do prefer it to using the bowl/lid/spoon as I did beforeI used the same methodology and doing it this way cooks the whites and leaves the yolk runny. The "trick" is to use hot/boiling water.I heat water 2 minutesPour some into the poacher ( have to leave room for the egg )add a pinch or two of salt ( this helps cooking quality)Add eggTop up to fill line with more of the heated waterPut on lid of poacher and microwave 1 minuteMy microwave is 1000 watts - adjust as needed the timesClean up - Well it's harder to wash the egg yolk off my plate and fork than it is to clean the poacher to put it in perspective.A little egg white "stuck" to the bottom and egg white stuck to the bottom on the strainer and in the slats.I found a light pass with a dish brush got it all offNote: the egg needed just the slightest nudge with my fork to slide it out and onto my plate. So "stuck" sounds far worse than the realityThe item is not flimsy. As microwaveable dishes go it's solid and good qualityWhy not 5 stars ?I don't think it should stick at all ( maybe use pam next time?)I would prefer the lid had a tighter fit. It's full of water so easy to spill getting it in and out of the microwaveI would prefer if the area where the eggs go was bigger and i think that would give better overall resultsI have never had an egg explode when i have poached it in the microwave with or without this poacher. I think the key to that is to have sufficient waterIt went through the dishwasher top shelf just fine as I washed it in there before using.Overall I am pleased and will keep it

Beautiful, but impractical. A bad design.
Can it cook poached eggs? Yes.Does it do it well? No.I'm really passionate about eggs and design, so get ready for a very detailed and intense review.I feel like they focused too much on the aesthetic and that took away from the functionality when designing this product. First off, there are too many dang parts for something that does a very simple task. Having to wash 4 pieces of plastic after making 2 eggs is... a lot. And none of the parts stick together, which means I have to scramble through piles and piles of dishes to find all the parts. Also because there's no interlocking mechanism between the cooking part and the lid, I've had the lid blew up, and boiling egg water soaked up the whole microwave a few times. I know they say this could happen if the cook time or microwave power is not right, but the more I use it the more I feel like I'm better off going stove-top. Because then if I screw up, I end up with overcooked eggs, as opposed to no eggs and a dirty microwave.Bottom line: it's not the worst thing in the world, but there are way better (and cheaper) options out there. I'd recommend Nordic Ware ( Nordic Ware Microwave 2 Cavity Egg Poacher ). It's ugly as hell, but it's only about 6 bucks, works very well and doesn't have any of the problems I encountered with this one. Don't fall for the aesthetics like I did.
