Very light and useful as advertised
This is great for paperback books and the normal sized Kindles. It is very light, and if space is not an issue, would travel great. Material is soft and seems like great quality. This does have a little flex to the "beans", so if you have a complex surface it may not mold to it... but this also offers some consistency and prevents it from turning in to mush like many "beanbag" styled products. I think it's the right compromise for a book stand. I tried with an iPad Pro and that's a little bit too much weight; but that's not this product's intended use. For an adult, and in a steady environment, it works fine. I would not allow younger kids to use with an expensive iPad unless it was in their lap.

My wife doesnโt know what to do with her hands
Look, I like physical books. Especially when the missus and I curl up into bed and make like Mr and Mrs Brady and read before going to sleep in head to toe 70s karate pajamas. Yeah, you thought Marshaโs nose was broken by a football. Nah, it was a foot. Period. Carol donโt speak โsassโ. Anyway, for twenty years, the missus has held my book out in front of me as I read. She credits this 2 hrs a night for her dromedary hunch and shoulders of tungsten. She asked if I would consider a book pillow. I replied that I didnโt speak โsassโ. She said that it wasnโt a book that you fall asleep on, like that House of the Seven Gables crap from High School, but a pillow that holds your book. I blinked once. Twice. Thrice. Frice. I told her that we could try it and it better be good, or Iโd go Sam the Butcher on her. That dude looked like the Lion guy from the Wizard of Oz. It arrived and I was dubious. Nay, skeptical. How could this pillow and plastic thing hold my medieval tomes that double as coffee tables? Look here voice cracking Peter, this thing holds whatever you place in it. Books, hookah, cousin Oliver. Iโm now an avowed fan of these. In fact, Iโm starting a cult. Yearly fees due every May. Robes are overthere. For the love of all that is holy, buy one of these even if it means stretching your wallet like Bobbyโs tiny body on a swingset.

Good product with a small asterisk.
A good design and product, with just a small asterisk. That concerns magazines. It can't hold a full open-spread magazine because the far sides of the magazine will flop back so you can't see them. But this really isn't much of a problem for me since I normally read magazines doubled-over anyway, meaning folded back on itself you you're just looking at one page because they're easier to hold that way. I did try two sizes of paperbacks and a large, wide hard cover coffee table book and it worked fine. The best thing is that it indeed can adapt to my seating position, which is in a chair or couch with my legs extended on an ottoman. It sits up and holds the book just fine. I anticipate that this product will make reading a lot easier and more comfortable.

Every Book Needs the Book Seat!
I love the Book Seat! It holds any size book, paperback or hardback, and allows me to lounge or eat while reading. It's soft in the lap, yet has enough weight and foam "beads" (like in a bean bag chair) to keep it upright. It's also easy to bend, shape and move to fit your needs. I like that the page holder is clear so I can see the words, and you can adjust the pressure easily with the black stretchy cord and adjuster. The best thing is that you can keep it firm enough to hold the pages open, but loose enough you can still turn the pages with plenty of room. My only complaint is that small paperbacks are sometimes hard to hold open without really cinching the cord tight - then you can't turn the pages. It's a little bit clumsy with small paperbacks, but still MUCH better than fatiguing your thumbs or trying to hold a book open while you eat or lounge. The Book Seat is great, and I highly recommend it!

Best thing ever
This thing is GENIUS I tell you! For those of you wanting to read again (and preferring paper books!) but you arms are too tired, or muscle spasms, or just don't wanna....this thing is amazing. They did a great job at designing it to hold a book of nearly any size - the one I have on it right now is pretty large - and be able to turn pages without too much difficulty. There's a pocket on the back, I suppose for reading glasses. There's a zipper for the cover, but I can't access the slider to open it - not sure if that was the intention or not. I'm a bit afraid on the durability, the part of the seat that cradles the book I think is thin plastic. I hope it lasts! I honestly think this is overpriced for what it is, but I NEEDED this in my life! .

Wonderful product, exceeded expectations.
I had reservations about purchasing this product due to some reviews stating that it didn't work well with larger or heavier books. They also mentioned a fix for it, so I took a chance and bought it. However, I didn't need to alter it. I found The Book Seat worked perfectly with every type of book from mass market paperbacks (in terms of adequately spreading the pages) to heavy, over-sized hardbacks and everything in between. I created this video to show you that I had no trouble getting it to hold heavier, larger books, whether simply resting on my lap or placed on a flat surface. This is not something I'd normally do, but I felt really strongly about the quality of this product and wanted others to feel confident in their purchase. Quite simply, it's the best book holder I've used (and I've tried quite a few). I cannot hold paper books easily or for long, and I'd been looking for a holder of this quality for a long time. Highly recommended.

Too light for my needs
It's a really good idea for a book stand. The shape and size is good and the plexiglass with string to hold the book in place is a very clever solution. However, the Book Seat is not for me. I got it especially to be able to read big hardbacks in bed, but the Book Seat is too light to support them! If you are not in the middle of the book, the seat will lean to the side where you have more pages. On top of that, the seat it very prone to tilting and falling on its back under the weight of book. You can make it work, but at this point you're using the same things to support the book that you did without the Book Seat. Overall, great for light paperbacks, but I would look for heftier alternatives if you want to read your heavy hardbacks!

I Can Read Once Again!
This had been on my wish list for some time. I was skeptical about getting it and didn't think that it would be the right thing for me. You see, I tend to read while lying down in bed. I've been doing that all my life. In the past few months however, I had to stop reading because of tingling and numbness in my hands as a result of cervical spondylosis (osteoarthritis of the neck). I was devastated. Me not reading = a life not worth living. Seriously. So, I went ahead and ordered this, although I was still miserable, since I thought that I'd only be able to use it while sitting up. Oh my goodness! This is the best. I can place it on my torso/chest and read while lying down. I would say that it's worth its weight in gold, but that's not really fair, since it barely weighs anything. I'll be taking this with me whenever we travel. I'm so happy that I finally got this.

Love My Little Book Seat
This is a wonderful little thing. My arms would get shooting pains from holding my iPad to read my books. Now my iPad sits comfortably in the seat and life is good and the pain has lessened. I will be buying my family Book Sears for Christmas

Nice product
Could be wider and have more stuffing to make it firmer. The cardboard support could be a plastic or something stronger.

Great concept for hands free reading
Love my book pillow but itโs too light so it easily topples over with any slight movement. Iโm going to put a small baggie of sand or salt inside to see if it helps. Otherwise, the clear plastic page holder works really well. I would recommend this purchase.
