A Plastic Ocean [DVD]

Great movie to help us understand the impact plastic single use items is having on our oceans. Sad to see that decisions made previously has negatively impacted wildlife. We all need to do our part to limit plastic use.

This is a great movie to open up your eyes and makes you start checking your plastic use.

As a High School teacher, I think it is important to show parts of this film to my classes. Even though we are far inland, the issue of waste disposal in the oceans is vitally important. Having lived in Asia, I find that many Americans are a bit unaware of the size of the problem. Disecting the fish to show how many little pieces of plastic clogged their guts was very instructive.Remember, Plastic does NOT break down; it breaks up into small pieces that destroy the food chain by killing off the small fish who support everything above their trophic level (and that includes us).

This movie is amazing and sad. This documentary is very well done and shows how we are not only polluting our oceans, but killing animals with the plastics that enter our oceans. Why do we, as a human race, think we can just throw trash everywhere and it will be ok? Is it the ‘outta sight, outta mind’ mentality? If people don’t start realizing the Earth is a living entity that needs to be cared for, we are doomed as a species.Everyone needs to see this to realize the extent we have damaged this important and essential ecosystem.

I had no idea that plastic particles in the ocean could reach us so easily. This is a pretty powerful documentary, even points out that BPA free is not good enough. Everyone should see this, it’s insane what plastic has done to the world.

My son watched this at school, he was was very moved by it. We decided to check it out. It is an eye opening documentary. It broke my heart to see so much damage to the earth we as humans have done. After watching this our family has gone plastic free. I hope that more people watch this. Maybe change their lives like it did to our family.

The title says it. We have one ocean, on Earth everything is connected. This is an overwhelming movie because it's an overwhelming problem. Hang in there. There are some amazing scientific inventions shown towards the end of the film. Many of the facts are not going to be new to most of you. I watched it with my husband who doesn't usually pay as much attention to pollution like I do. Once you know, you cannot un-know! Now my husband knows and that's exactly what A Plastic Ocean must have set out to do. We will never see birds the same again!

In the past 10 years humans have created more plastics than the previous 100 years. Most of that plastic is winding up in the ocean. It doesn't break down as much as it breaks up. Now With 47 times more pieces of plastics in the ocean than plankton. We are on the verge of a massive extinction. An overwhelming number of whales, dolphins, fish and birds and the like are dying of malnutrition because their stomachs are full our our plastic garbage.Watching this documentary your heart goes out to these suffering creatures. All the chemicals in the plastics are poisoning our food chain.SOMETHING MUST BE DONE!! The first thing is for all to WATCH this documentary PLASTIC OCEAN.There's no special features on this dvd. But that's ok because the whole content is a special feature.A MUST SEE!!!!!!

Very thorough look at the issue of plastic in the ocean and how it affects different parts of the world, and ultimately, all of us.

日本で昨年末に公開され、これは！と思い購入。なぜスタバでプラスチックストローが廃止の流れになったのか、ビニール袋の有料化だけで問題は解決されるのか…考えさせられる内容です。特に海鳥の異内容物を出すシーンは衝撃的でした。これからプラスチックゴミの問題を扱う教育者として見ていて損はないと思います。
