We got it to float with no power on, we then plugged it in and it stopped working, work that one out. Had to send it back!

In short NO, it hovers due to theagnetic field and spins if you physically spin it your self but will stop after a time it doesn't keep spinning. It's also smaller than expected but still looks nice.
