I was really excited about using this. I recently installed a gate opener, and the connection for the second gate had five wires that needed to be spliced. One set of wired was stranded wire, and the other set was solid wire. So, this seemed like the best solution. I got this even though it had two extra connections, but I figured, who knows? I'd rather have extra than not enough. Well, to me, the box is too small for so many connections. I tried connecting them with the panel outside the box, because there was a lot more room for fingers and screwdrivers. But once I did that, I couldn't really get the connected board into the box because it was just too big. So, I figured I'd have to undo the connections on one side and just do those while it was already set in the box, so I undid one half and attached the bar to the box, but I still could not get all the connections made inside the box because I ran out of room. Then I figured I would need to undo the connections again, cut the cable back a bit so I would have more slack in the wires. That's when I discovered that when I'd screwed the panel into the box I'd messed up one of the screws, and it was stuck and in trying to get the panel back out it just snapped in two pieces. I considered getting another one because I had a good idea of everything that I needed to do before trying to attach the wires. But I didn't want to spend more money only to find out that it still wouldn't fit right, and this was only using 5 wires rather than the 7 it was made for. So, I bought some of the individual snap connectors and that took me about 30 seconds to make the connections. Then I just bought a cover for it and voila. So, I was not impressed. But I gave it three stars since I'm sure part of it was my inexperience with wiring.

Simply put: it's just okay. The box lacks a rubber gasket between the lid and case to really make that aspect of it waterproof. The gland connectors have rubber/rubberized inserts that can seal if the diameter of the wire entering them is large enough to seal against the opening (which is adjustable like all gland connectors).I was able to make it work for my application, but I would have preferred to buy something that required less effort on my part to make it work.

Box seems ok. The terminal strip needs improvement. It does not grip wires tightly.

Received this and what a joke.... Nothing but junk. Looks like this could work on little tyke Toys. Waste of money

My irrigation wire got cut by the guys putting in my patio, so I needed to splice in a new wire. This box was perfect for that. It seems to be pretty waterproof, but for me I buried this near the house so it shouldn't see a lot of water. You have to cut and install the gasket, and I added a little silicone grease to assist with the waterproofing. The screws for the wires are pretty soft, so don't use a cordless bit driver like in the product video. Just do it by hand with the right sized screwdriver.Another tip especially if you are using solid core wire is to put the wires in, and get your bends right, then mark, cut, and strip the wires. Then take the connector out of the box to secure the wires. There just isn't much room to work in the box. You can see in my pics one side is much cleaner than the other.I could have used some screw nuts that I had, but this box offers a much cleaner solution. Very happy with it.
