LifeStraw Peak Series - Large Capacity Gravity Water Filtration System - 3L for Camping, RVing, Overlanding, Travel and Adventure (Mountain Blue)

I bought this gravity water filter system in 2024 to help with multi-day hikes and any time I needed to filter water. Found it to be light, easy to use, very fast with filtering and a top quality product.

I took this as our groups primary water filter on a fishing trip to Canada. The lake we stayed at was a cedar lake and had dark reddish colored water. Our group of 4 drank safely from the filtered lake water. Although it is unlikely there were many contaminants in the lake water, we did not want to chance it and ruin our fishing trip. It easily was filled a few times a day and just hang around doing its thing! The filtered water still had a slight color tint to it but tasted great. Saved us lots of weight flying into the camp. Make sure to read the instructions on proper cleaning/storing the filter unit. Even if you don't store/clean properly the filter itself can be replaced easily. Seems like a durable piece of equipment.

The system itself is hard to keep cross containmention for occuring, as you have to put the piece you drink from into the bag with dirty water to store it, or you just leave the wet filter in your pocket with will still make it dirty. It's not easy to use, but other than that it filters well, the waters still green when it comes out so I wouldn't buy it as it taste funny and isn't portable at all.

This product was a great asset during a recent backpacking trip. The fact that it can fold up when not in use is very beneficial. The material is high quality, and we did not have any problems submerging it in streams or hanging the full reservoir from tree limbs. Make sure you are cleaning out the filter after each use though, or else it will clog up on you.
