Another great book by Julia Donaldson. Good rhythm, story line and illustrations. Good value for money, good quality pages. Bright colours and large font, encouraging young readers

Didn't expect this to be one of the better Julia Donaldson books but it's one of my daughter's favourites. Maybe because of the voices I put on when reading to her, which are easy to imagine/do with having only a handful of distinguishable characters. One of her shorter books too so if want a quicker bedtime, this is a good choice. Would recommend.

As with all Julia Donaldson books a firm favorite with the grandchildren and the rhyming story is easy to read and make the story come aliveMy 3yr old grandson loves being read to and loves to follow the story in the great illustrations/pictures. 6yr old enjoys reading to younger siblings as does the 9 yr old who knows them off by heart but puts her own expression onto the story as she retells to younger kids.

My son enjoyed this book and I enjoyed reading it too. Not as captivating as The Gruffalo or endearing as the Smed and the Smoos but it’s a lot of fun and will probably be well received at around Halloween time. If you are a fan of these books then you can’t go wrong, but if you’re new to JD and AS I would start with one of the earlier books.

Brilliant, my grandson loves it and best of all I love reading it to him

I bought this as used like new. It arrived and really is excellent. I wouldn’t know that it wasn’t new. The story is excellent. Really amusing and my grandson who is three loved it. It’s pretty much a story of a witch, a ghost and a troll who want to scare a little girl and how that doesn’t really go to plan for them. Good wins over the baddies. The illustrations are wonderful and the rhyming verse flows well. It’s actually a real pleasure to read to my grandson and he was captivated. A great book and I’d definitely recommend. I’m happy to read this again and again which is exactly what happened!

Love a Julia Donaldson Book!

Another epic tale by the best author

of all the Donaldson/Scheffler production this seems mostly an equality and diversity tick-boxing exercise, where the story and the text fail to reach previous levels of achievement. As if all of a sudden a black female protagonist was to make up for some past misrepresentation. All the previous ones have offered mostly with animals characters a fair share that kids need to learn about their world and some future pearls of wisdom...this seems a bit forced by the market, albeit its excellent illustrations.

A easy to read family favourite. A beautiful book of adventure by Julia Donaldson

We love all her books. This one is as great as many other books of Julia's.
