Used this for pins in a knife handle. It works fine.

What more can you say? It fit the description!

Overall, it was a good purchase and it worked well. The diameter and length were accurate. The price wasn't bad either. As others have stated, there will be 1/4 to 1/2 inch on each rod that can't be used due to to crimping when it's sheared from a longer rod.

what I wanted and they work

Bought the 3/16 ss rods for pinning knife handles. First order November 2020. This was a quality product, and measured exactly in size. Reordered February 2023. Completely different product. The rods measure 7% too large in diameter. They have a rough unfinished surface and are slightly flattened at the ends. (Pics show old rod on left and new product on right) Very disappointed in what they are trying to pass off as knife making quality. Do not buy this product!

Unlike the image in the ad, this arrived with a crusty exterior, and porous/pitted subsurface, as well as pinched ends that must then be cut back to get to usable, circular profiles. Removing the scale and some of the pitting results in a much smaller diameter. Basically, you're buying raw material that you'll need to dimension and finish yourself, so size-up and have tools and skills ready. Or just don't buy this. I wouldn't.
